Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
If we have to play Rice there, we play Rice there. I think Kral has played centre back in his career, I think Cresswell would do a decent job too for a couple games. We could easily go to a back five with Cresswell and Johnson either side of a centre back.
We can move players around and cover pretty much any two injuries.

As regards that piece, bubbs - it completely ignores that there is a 1-year option, just talks about how unlikely it is for Oggy to be offered a NEW contract by WHU at 34.

Well this would change matters. If Ogbonna goes then we need 2 centre backs with Diop also moving on.
Edit: Only just seen that Bubbs has also mentioned this

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
So with Oggy, Fredericks and Diop potentially going, Dawson on his last legs (was only bought as a back up anyway), that means 4 more may be required (certainly 3). Add LB, a CM and a striker (we were baying for 2 at one point), so unless my maths fail me, I make that 7. But of course let's not mention Noble, Yarmolenko, Areola or Masuaku or that will add up 11 and we really 'only need 4 more players'. In the unlikely event that Diop, Dawson, Areola and Masuaku stay the whole season (all of whom are not first team starters but we can't say that because we're not allowed back ups) that still means 7 'upgrades' needed, minimum.

Its tiring being on the right side of the argument all the time BrookoEl brooko79 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 2:21 pmI saw this article earlier and my first thought was how Pauls1 would react![]()

Dawson is 31. He's going nowhere.
Fredericks can leave and it'll still leave Coufal, Johnson, Ashby.
Kral can be made permanent and act as Noble's replacement on the bench. Lanzini has played in CM ahead of both of them.
You have no idea if Areola will stay or not. Fabianski has signed an extension.
We'll let Yarmolenko leave and sign a proper striker.
We'll ideally find a buyer for Masuaku, although he has multiple years left on his contract, and sign a proper left back.
We'll maybe sell Diop if the money is right and buy a centre-back or two (if Diop does get moved on).

We don't need 11 players. Have you never seen a football club go through summer before? Where has this absolute panic come from that I keep seeing?Hamburger wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 2:43 pmSo with Oggy, Fredericks and Diop potentially going, Dawson on his last legs (was only bought as a back up anyway), that means 4 more may be required (certainly 3). In an ideal world we'd sign upgrades everywhere, we can't afford that.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Can we sign 10 upgrades assuming Rice is impossible to upgrade?
It would be great but it just won't happen!

And that is that for another (particularly disappointing) transfer window.
