I'm surprised at the lack of love Antonio is getting. I thought he was a fan favourite and scored in lots of big games. His appearances and goals stats stand up well against anyone else too. Maybe his current poor run of form is influencing peoples thoughts on him.
He is and does.

Current form doesn't come into the equation for me. Mike for all his goals, desire, personality etc. just simply isn't among the best of our Premier League era for me

Glen Johnson only made 15 appearances
That’s true and I suppose I’d go Breaker overall, but RB is the weakest part of everyone’s sides imho

GK: Ludo Miklosko

Def: Lucas Neil -- Rio Ferdinand -- Alvin Martin -- Julian Dicks

Mid: Javier Mascherano -- Michael Carrick

AM: Marko Arnautovic -- Frank Lampard -- Dimitri Payet

ST: Carlos Tevez

When Arnie gets the hump, hook him for Di Canio, then hook him for Joe Cole

Fabianski or Green... tough choice. I'll go with Fabianski. The grass isn't always greener...

Right back is a difficult one. I could say Coufal based on last seasons form... but if we're basing it on one season then I could also say Schemmel. I'm going to say Breacker as he was dependable for multiple seasons.

Left-back... it has to be between Dicks and Cresswell surely? Cresswell has the greater footballing ability, has been consistent across many seasons and was part of the great teams we had during Allardyces sakho/valencia season, Bilics first season, and two good seasons with Moyes.

Centre-backs... we've had a lot. Peak Collins and Gabbidon were both really good. Ferdinand, Bilic, Reid, Zouma, Martin, and Ogbonna have to be in the reckoning too. Ferdinand was at his best later on after he left us. Same as Lampard. I'll go with our current first choice pairing of Zouma and Ogbonna. Controversial?

Defensive (or box-to-box) midfielders... Rice, Parker, Foe, Song, Kouyate, Bishop, Allen, Carrick, Soucek. I probably should go for Rice and Parker. Both clearly our best players during their respective times. I'll go with Song instead of Parker though as I thought he was brilliant the first time round and a joy to watch. No so much later on.

Wingers... Payet would be on the left for me. On the right... could be Sinclair, or peak Antonio, or even Bowen. I'll go for Bowen - I like him.

Attacking midfielders... Could Di Canio play number 10? And then we have Berkovic, Benayoun, or maybe even Lingard. There's Lampard too. I'm going to go with Lingard.

Striker... Arnautovic, Antonio, Ashton, Di Canio again, Tevez, Bellamy, Hartson... we've had a few decent strikers. For me it's between prime Arnautovic and prime Ashton. I'll go with Arnie.

So thats...

-------------------Fabianski

Breacker----Zouma----Ogbonna----Cresswell

------------------Song----Rice

Bowen------------Lingard----------Payet

-------------------Arnautovic

Almost a best of Moyes side. Slim pickings at full-backs though to be fair. Also, as tempting as it is to pick older players due to nostalgic sentimentality, the fact is that many of them were part of a West Ham side considered to be a soft-touch and lost a lot of games. Also some players reached their best for other clubs after leaving us. These players were all important players in West Ham sides that did well. They were feared. I'll be honest, I'm not entirely happy with Breacker at right-back but there's no player that's really been outstanding there for more than 1 season.

I've just been questioned by my own offspring as to why I left Steve Potts off my team.

I have no real answer or excuse. I feel ashamed. He would have slotted in at right sided centre back had I not been so forgetful

For what its worth as a season ticket holder since 2012 he opted for

Fabianski

Coufal
Cresswell
Ogbonna
Zouma

Rice
Song

Payet
Parker
Bowen

Arnautovic

Who needs Mascherano when you've got Hayden Mullins?

Its not like Mascherano went on to do anything with his career after usanyway.........

To clarify, this is based on how good these players were for us, and not how good they were/became elsewhere?

Our one-season wonder syndrome at full-back is one of the most bizarre, recurring themes at West Ham. God knows how bad Glen Johnson would've turned out had he stayed another season.

Amount of full-backs who've been crap the following year after I thought they'd be first-choice for years. Always feared the worst with Coufal
Konchesky
Schemmel
Ilunga
Brevett
Jenkinson

I'm sure there's more.

GK: Ludo

RB: Antonio :crossed:
CB: Bilic
CB: Ogbonna
LB: Dicks

DCM: Rice
DCM: Parker

LW: Payet
ACM: Joe Cole
RW: Di Canio

STR: Tevez

(alternatively, I could move Di Canio to ACM and put Bowen on one of the wings)

Lucas Neil has probably been our most consistent RB in recent times.

Still time for Coufal, mind.

I'd argue Joey O'Brien was. A more than admirable job and consistently decent performances than most, bar Repka for me.

Better than Neil ? Nah, not for me, not even close.

Fair play to J O'B though, he had a go at a few positions and right back was perhaps his best

Entirely up to you, stevey. The only criteria is that your team must be 4-2-3-1.

If Coufal wasn’t so cr*p this season he’d be a serious contender for the right back spot. He was superb for us last season in a defensive sense and attacking sense.

Pesky hernia .... I mean how dare he pick up a minor injury that affects performance

You thought he was in playing well before the hernia? He’s been no more than a 5/10 for the majority of the season.
