Don't forget the Labour MP for South Thanet, Nigel Farage, piping up on TV and blaming NATO for all of these issues.

Re: Russian troop build up on Ukraine border.
So, you completely avoided the major part of my question that Putin somehow has no valid opponents come election time, and one of his main opponents (who survived a mysterious nerve agent poisoning) is now in prison, and would rather talk Norweigan alleged doping as defence of Russia's shameful history of state doping.omch@ wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:54 pm Doping is accepted by all athletes. Everyone on the Norwegian team has asthma. China did not allow a shipment of asthma drugs for Norwegian athletes to pass. And how did Klebo perform?
Those who allowed this are to blame and should be punished! RUSADA is subordinate to WADA (Putin is not famous here) A lot of negativity has poured out on Valieva. I don't think she deserved it.
I have a lot of questions about doping.
Why did they open this particular doping test? The doping test before the Olympics was clean.
Why did the media get information earlier than the IOC?
Why did WADA allow Simone Bales to take methylphenidate and amphetamines as an exception?
So wrong are you, that you should notice most people over here have great sympathy for Valieva, and anger is directed towards her coach, entourage and Russian sport who have completely failed in their care of a child.

Yeah, but at least we don't have a leader whose surname sounds like somewhere you'd take a ****.

Re: Russian troop build up on Ukraine border.
America is allowed to install 400 military bases around China , US naval forces are on the doorstep of China - there are nuclear missiles pointed at China in Okinawa and South Korea - Obama installed missiles in Poland supposedly pointing at Iran -
The United States have 150 B-61 nuclear gravity bombs spread over in Belgium , Germany , the Netherlands , Turkey and Italy .
100 of these bombs used to be stored at RAF Lakenheath until they were removed in 2008 .
Now , 50 of these bombs are stored at Incirlik air base in Turkey , 70 miles away from war torn Syria .
Having US nuclear bombs in Europe conflicts with the legal obligations of the signatories to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Articles 1 and 2 of the NPT forbid the transfer of nuclear weapons to non-nuclear weapon states, but Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey are all non-nuclear.
And Russia are the aggressors ?

Governments are rubbish.
Politics is rubbish.
Money is rubbish.
Democracy is rubbish.
Capitalism is rubbish.
Socialism is rubbish.
Communism is rubbish.
Growing up, realising we are all human beings and learning to co-exist on a small blue dot that we all call home...now there's an idea.

Your interpretation of the NPT unsurprisingly seems to have come straight out of Russia Today.

Re: Russian troop build up on Ukraine border.
And all that is totally irrelevant because we are talking about Russia and Ukraine, and the conflict ongoing. Pointing to America’s failings, or those of other European countries is not an answer. The Old Man of Storr wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 9:32 pm America is allowed to install 400 military bases around China , US naval forces are on the doorstep of China - there are nuclear missiles pointed at China in Okinawa and South Korea - Obama installed missiles in Poland supposedly pointing at Iran -

Wonder why our sanctions are so pathetically puny compared to other countries….

Re: Russian troop build up on Ukraine border.
The Old Man of Storr, if these threats where a concern why is he choosing to move closer to the threat and poke the hornets nest.
You make it sound as if all the threats are one way. Do you beleive there will be peace if NATO disappeared and the West had no army?
Or would Russia and China and their proxy allies fight to take all?
For all our governments incompetence, I would rather live here than in Russia or China. Look how the former Soviet States are thriving. Granted with EU help, but that is another matter.
How will Russia invest in Ukraine. Military bases, mining? Will this money stay local, or find its way into Putins pockets.
Russians have to consider if Putins ego and wallet are worth thousands of dead Russians.

We have a lunatic imperialist Russian who seems intent on recreating tzarist Russia, yet some think this is a good opportunity to have a go at the government.
Tenners - I give zero ****'s because said poster consistently spouts nonsence and can take almost any topic and spin it to being the fault of; evil tories, evil bankers, evil corporations, evil car drivers or an unjust electoral system. Every debate, every topic, without fail. I may not sgree with a lot of other posters but st least they can construct a sophisticated argument.
Omos - when you've done 2 decades here, everyone seems new.

I appreciate the alternative view. Even though I am often mocked for mine.
The hypocracy is always evident. China, Russia, Cambodia, N.Korea, Cuba ect some how get a pass. Millions murdered in the name of the cause. Yet religion and capitalism get them blame. These are also not beacons of great places to live.

Re: Russian troop build up on Ukraine border.
I do wonder how much support Russia will have from China if international sanctions continue.
Does China see the West as a better economy or Russia if sanctions are placed.
