Re: Issa Diop
Ogbonna is the odd one out if any centre half is to make way for a new one.
Diop is fine as a back up and has age on his side. I believe he has an additional year attached to his 1 year remaining on his contract. Dawson without question deserves to stay. And Zouma, despite him being injury prone this season he’s still got age on his side.
Moyes for me either needs to let Ogbonna go at the end of the season, or give him a new 1 year contract and stick with the current centre halves. If it was down to me, it would be the former. To go into another season with half your centre halves being injury prone the last year is suicide.

Re: Issa Diop
It wasn’t that long ago that Arsenal and Man Utd were being linked to Diop with talk of £50M. There’s definitely a top class defender there and I would trust Moyes to draw that player out.
Stick.

Re: Issa Diop
Another good game yesterday. Seems to be getting his mojo back. If he keep this going until the end of the season, could save us some money in the transfer window. I hope so.

You don't even need to hit 30 sometimesCarltonColesLeftFoot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 7:50 am Craig Dawson is 31. As soon as people turn 30 they turn 40 on this forum .
We have an option on Diop which I'm sure will factor into his value
If the club can get a reasonable amount for him I'm sure they will sell and look to replace. He has very rarely followed up good performances with another to the point where you feel he can be a first choice selection. If Zouma or Oggy were fit tomorrow he'd be replaced in an instant... i can't 100% say the same for Dawson but factoring everything in for Dawson expectations are lower.
Diop, in his mid 20s should be looking to be more than a back up and we should be looking for someone who can challenge truth be told.
Re: Issa Diop
Agree. I thought he was excellent against a physical attack and didn't seem to get bullied.

Re: Issa Diop
I get that Dawson has been a monster this year, but if we hope to establish ourselves as a regular top six club then we really need to play a CB who is younger than 81Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 4:10 pm 33 at the end of next season.
So he won't be 34 for another two full seasons yet.

Should've planted that header right in the corner where Pope wouldn't have got a glove on it

Re: Issa Diop
According to Ex, Diop has suffered an achilles injury and is now likely to miss the rest of the season. (this is unconfirmed just sharing what i've seen)

Re: Issa Diop
I assume we will have to move Soucek or Rice back there.
We gambled on 3 CBs for the campaign in January and lost.

Re: Issa Diop
We also gambled on not getting in a CF and lost that bet too...with the amount of goals we've conceded another couple in the net at the other end wouldn't have gone amiss I'm hoping

Re: Issa Diop
Surely they didn't train today after playing Thursday and Sunday.
Reckon we need to try Johnson as CB if it's gonna be for a number of games.

Re: Issa Diop
Just checked his twitter. Nothing. Looked very obviously a hamstring injury to me as well.EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:22 pm According to Ex, DIop has suffered an achilles injury and is now likely to miss the rest of the season. (this is unconfirmed just sharing what i've seen)
