I said if a replacement becomes available. We clearly have enough players to play in the Vlasic role (whatever that is), especially if Lingard and/or A.N.O.T.H.E.R. comes in.

He looked alright, but is that our striker search over?

All those people private messaging me to take the piss out of Wilko’s sad little spreadsheet should be ashamed of themselves.

He ticks the boxes in terms of likely to be available for the right sort of price. And is typical of the type of signing Moyes would’ve made at Everton. I.e. One of the best players for a club around the bottom, or has just been relegated.

Whether he is good enough to be Antonio’s long term answer that I am not entirely convinced.

He’s scored the same amount of league goals Antonio has scored since the turn of the year:

an increase in our attacking options actually helps the defense as the opposition will focus more on stopping them , as well as better defenders mean we can push more people forward

Dennis is an interesting signing. If Moyes thinks Antonio still has another year in him of 30 odd starts where he can produce the sort of performances we saw on Sunday and in the first half of the season then it would seem a perfect situation to bring Dennis in to where he can be eased in and assessed as either someone who can replace Antonio long term or someone who can contribute and rotate with any of the front 3.

Antonio has started 44 games this season and completed 38 of them. I reckon his performances from December to now would be transformed with more rest.

We inexplicably gave Antonio a new 2.5 year deal in January keeping him here until Summer 2024.

I’d hope Moyes sees more than just another year in him.

Maybe not Dennis but I think this sort of situation is the most likely one. I don’t expect us to sign a bonafide starter at CF this summer

Dennis could be a good option as a striker - his decision making does often let him down though as he tries to take on one too many players. Hopefully we're not looking at him as a wide option as his final ball isn't too great. He does put in a defensive shift though and presses well. He's also fairly strong and could potentially play effectively as the lone striker.

Another defender for Wilkos spreadsheet...

Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg.

Probably nothing in it but we do seem to have been scouting a fair few Bundesliga players recently

Don't see any real issue with that to be honest. He's shown more than enough this season to suggest he can play a major role next season and then you're looking at one more year of him being used to give any of the first choice forwards a rest. I'd be willing to bet he shows enough form over the next 18 months that the club end up triggering the extension to keep him here until 2025.

Plus that extension takes him to ten years and I'd love him to get a testimonial as a send off.

The reason Ake didn’t play is he isn’t fully fit.

Interesting how the staff have kept him fit despite all the fan worries.

Regardless of any offers, doing any business with the attacking midfield options should be so far down our list as to hardly feature. We definitely shouldn't be budgeting for any player coming in that plays across those positions, we're short in numbers and quality elsewhere on in the pitch, whilst having both of those in those positions.

Sure I read something near the start of the season about him switching his diet or something that seemed to stop all his muscle problems overnight

Don't think it is just the staff. Antonio has mentioned changing his diet and personal fitness regime to help.

The staff just advise, if the player doesn't get behind it then you get Carroll rather than Antonio!

He seems to have lost that pure explosive pace, but if it means another 18 months or so like he played at the weekend then all good by me.

I like Dennis. Raw, but has shown enough to say he could kick on and is a reasonable option across the front three so would get minutes regardless.

Dennis?

One Good season. Check
Relegated. Check.
Cheap. Check

He ticks every box that every West Ham manager appointed under Sullivan prefers. Another amazing meeting of minds.

I'm sure he also moved his wife and kids down south which meant he spent less time back and forth to Manchester (or nearby where they lived) on the motorway.

I can't decide whether Dennis is rubbish, got found out, or was just playing in a crap team. I've not seen much of him, apart from when he played against us, when he completely disappeared after the first few minutes, but 2 goals from the last 20 games is not exactly inspiring confidence.

My gut feeling is that he isn't actually very good, and that he got figured out by defenders

Sarr is another one from Watford that I wouldn't touch with a barge-pole - he's another sprinter in football boots, all speed no end product
