Spanish media linking us with Depay. Not one I’ve thought of but would be very Moyes striker, very much like Arnoutovic.

Who not surprisingly struggles to get in against Rodri, Gundoghan, KDB etc. He'd give us versatility, but he’d struggle at left back for any side below Citeh standard, and he certainly wouldn’t displace Rice or Soucek in midfield. Given he’d probably cost £30m plus it’s a no thanks.

certainly very talented. weren't we linked prior to him being a "freebee ?"

only been at Barca a year but I bet they'd ask 30M* plus. he ain't coming cheap, they need the money. my guess is playing there, he'd be on a pretty fair pay check as well. and hope that we play him centrally. I think that he's always played pretty much wide for whichever team he's played for.

transfermarkt has him at 45M Euros (no idea what that is in pounds, shillings and pence !! :crylol: )

they also have him at LW.

39 in 77 for the national which is pretty bloody good..thought I wasn't imagining it, seems to have played more at LW for the Cloggies.

Rubbish game but the young Rangers lcb Bassey looks a prospect, doubt he’ll be in Scotland much longer.

Pretty sure he plays left-wing or #10 for Ukraine.

He's much more likely to be seen as a replacement for Vlasic/Masuaku/Benrahma than Rice or Soucek I suspect.

Its intersting that Zinchenko has played more at LB by far than any other position...but nearly all his games at LB have been at Man City

So he is a Man City LB but never been a LB anywhere else

He didnt pass the eye test on Sunday

He's maybe worth a punt but not a big money one... the dutch fella looks a much better bet at 10 million despite lack of experience

I was about to say the same. Looks a very good defender and can also play centre back.

Only 22 as well.

Calvin Bassey looks good for Rangers.

Left footed CB, early 20's...

They're box to box CMs for me now.

I think we maybe overplay the defensive of their games when they bring quite a bit going forward.
As much as I love Declan and Soucek I don’t think either are really ball playing playmakers - albeit I get your point that they are box-to-box. I think Declan is much more of a playmaker but I can’t see him, Soucek and Phillips being anything like as creative as the three that Liverpool have had in the middle personally. I think Rice and Soucek both bring stuff going forward (didn’t mean to suggest they don’t) but it’s more brute force than nuance skill (if that makes sense).

Someone who I would go all out for at £40m ish (that it would cost for Phillips) is Conor Gallagher - who Tuchel seemed lukewarm about keeping when asked (basically said ‘it depends on how pre-season goes’).

I still also like James Maddison as a player to be part of our central 3 (appreciate a very different player to Gallagher) - but after MB highlighted the off-pitch stuff we should stay clear!

His price will increase after tonight’s showing and traditionally we’re not big spenders in that area

How do you know hes retiring? I thought he said the other day:
"Ill never let football retire me"
He will retire football.

I think he has a season or 2 left in him. I wouldnt begrudge him

You can't ever tell me I won't see Noble playing football again. I just won't accept it!

We are losing a lot of players this summer. Although most didn’t contribute too heavily to our season, some will need replacing.

Gone:
Noble
Yarmolenko
Fredericks
Areola (permanent signing in the works?)
Kral
Ogbonna (new contract?)
Fabianski (new contract?)
David Martin (new contract for HG and training ground?)

Also probably add Randolph, Masuaku and Diop to that list at the very least. Provided the bottom 3 sign extensions and Areola signs perm, that’s still 3-4 players that need replacing before we even start adding to the squad quality and quantity.

Big summer needed. Will be interesting to see what Moyes has in store.

Calvin Bassey has been Man of the Match as far as I’m concerned tonight, he’s been outstanding.
He’s ex Leicester, one of my mate’s who’s a season ticket holder there said he was never given a chance.

I still think Zinchenko could do a job at left back and Left wing back.
He could. But watch both our goals vs Man City.

Both times he loses Bowen, lazily jogs back and lifts his arm to signal for offside.

Can't say I'm sold. I think he's a good player, but not a LB (sound familiar?).

If Carlsberg did summer transfer windows:

GK: Areola (£11m)
CB: Tarkowski (£0, Diop replacement)
CB: Benoit Badiashile (£30m)
LB: Wijndal (£8m)
CM: Phillips (£30m)
CM: Coventry (Noble/Kral replacement)
LM: Lewis-Potter (£18m)
CAM: Scott Twine (£5m) & Lingard (£0),or Hlozek (£15m)
ST: Watkins (£45m)

Out: Diop (£12m), Masuaku (£4m), Randolph (release), one of Benrahma, Vlasic or Lanzini (varying prices)

Probably anywhere around £110-130m net spend but would look like:

GK: Areola/Fabianski/Martin
RB: Coufal/Johnson/Ashby
RCB: Zouma/Dawson/Tarkowski
LCB: Badiashile/Ogbonna/Zouma
LB: Wijndal/Cresswell
CM: Rice/Soucek
CM: Phillips/Coventry
RW: Bowen/Antonio/Lingard
CAM: Lanzini/Twine/Lingard/Vlasic (if he stays)
LW: Fornals/KLP/Benny (if he stays)
ST: Watkins/Antonio/Lingard/Bowen
