Financial fair play ?
Now I can never get my head around this rule but it seems to me the more back handers that ate handed out the more you get away with, rumours today are that aubameyang is of to Barcelona who yesterday came out that they are 1.15 billion in debt how can teams like this get away with it and others don't.
Every clubshouid have a certain transfer and wage cap including wages and then we wouid see who the great managers really are.

All about the global branding and the money that goes with it.
So it will never happen, (FIFA / UEFA) Some of these must be on a proper decent wedge, so why rock the boat?

Re: Financial fair play ?
FFP only applies to smaller clubs, or unscrupulous owners like ours use it as an excuse to not spend any money, rich clubs just spend as they wish as it doesn't apply to them

A good excuse if you don't want to spend.
Not a restriction if you do though.

I often wonder if something like the US gridiron draft system would work, where the less successful teams get first dibs on players. But, can you imagine a young Lionel Messi being told that he’s playing for Accrington Stanley rather than Barcelona.

We all know football is something of a farce nowadays but the big boys can spend what they like as it’s never stopped the so-called ‘ also rans ‘ giving them a bloody nose once in a while. West Ham are testament to that.

Have they actually got any 'celebrity' (barf) fans to help them fight the cause?

They have Prince Charles and Norris from Coronation Street , so given the royal connotations, I can see them get something.Wormley The 2nd wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 5:35 pm Have they actually got any 'celebrity' (barf) fans to help them fight the cause?

Does look like Everton have been cooking their books and do have something to answer to.
But since when has the Premier League been a level playing field?
Loan for £1.5bn written off, clubs selling stadiums to themselves for over inflated prices, some very questionable sponsorship deals, some interesting accounting when it comes to player values etc. etc.
Frankly, it's all corrupt and Everton are just one of many who are benefitting financially by bending and breaking the rules.

Re: Here we go again
I'm not sure of the ins and outs but we know from bitter experience how these things can go.
Didn't Mykolenko - signed in January - score a critical goal a week or two ago?
Roll out Henry Winter and a typical judge and ask why they haven't been subject to transfer embargo....
It ends up with £50m-£75m in compensation to whoever goes down. They have a precedent to call on.

Everton's covid explanation is clearly bull****.
They take about £15m a year at the gate.

Leeds & Burnley threaten legal action against Everton and Premier League
[popcorn thingy]Leeds and Burnley are threatening legal action against Everton and the Premier League over the handling of the club's finances.
Both clubs wrote to the league last week regarding Everton's most recent accounts which showed losses of £120.9m for the 2020-21 season.
They have posted losses of £372m over the past three years.
League profitability and sustainability rules allow for losses of £105m over a three-year period.
But Everton say that Covid-19 losses over the past two seasons amount to £170m.
That figure has caused surprise among some Premier League teams because it dwarfs clubs of a similar size.
Earlier this week, Newcastle posted Covid-19 losses of £40m over the past two seasons, while Aston Villa said theirs amounted to £56m.

Re: Financial fair play ?
Um... so if Covid was 170m, then Everton were a mere 97m over the 105m limit?
I suppose it's too much to hope for a points deduction

Re: Financial fair play ?
Having read a bit into it, I don’t see how Everton aren’t bang to rights? Maybe Leeds and Burnley have a case?
