Sinden Light Gun

Post by DasNutNock2 »

Just spent £100 on one of these. I may or may not have had some drinks before I finally committed, having contemplated buying for at least a year.

Needs a pc and some understanding of how to configure emulators and suchlike but is meant to be reasonably intuitive.

I've been umming and ahhing over getting one, be interested to hear what it's like from someone who's paid for it themself. The reviews do look promising, not sure how distracting the border is going to be though.

Can’t imagine the border is much of an issue TBH, but will let you know once mine’s here and tested. Guess the suez crisis might be extending the lead time somewhat 🙁

Just the other day I was thinking about how much I missed games like a Time Crisis, Virtua Cop and Jurassic Park: The Lost World.
Bloody cool, but it isn’t particularly cheap....

Indeed - £100 plus shipping for the basic model. Took me a lot of deliberation before I gave in, and needed several large drinks before I finally committed. I’ve always loved light gun games though, and reckon I’ll get some decent use out of it. Definitely overpriced though, and I’m amazed none of the console makers have designed their own versions yet.

The SNES had a Super Scope. I was only 5 at the time but remembered it being huge.

Mostly retroarch but have had it working with Teknoparrot, too. Dreamcast, Saturn, SNES, NES & PlayStation emus & roms so far. Incredibly, it’s even more accurate than even the best CRT guns were. SUCH a laugh going through the old classics.

I have a second retroarch instance on my game laptop, configured purely for the Sinden, so as to not have to keep reconfiguring every time I want to use it. All pretty simple once you’ve finished setup.

Agreed, was a bit of a PITA in its early forms but has been rock solid for a long time. Only issue now is finding the correct cores for arcade roms, which can be highly infuriating.

Teknoparrot is an amazing bit of software but even more fiddly to configure. But supports much more modern arcade titles and really works beautifully with an Nvidia or AMD GPU.
