Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
I see the narrative that JWP is overrated and just be free kick merchant is sticking despite lots of stats suggesting otherwise. He is a fantastic player in open play.
Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Agreed. Soucek is quality and highly rated across Europe just eleven months ago and I suggest in need of a decent rest more than anything else to get him back to top form. Benhrama I’m fine with and has lots to offer. I’d be happy with Lingard but just have some nagging doubt that things aren’t as good second time round. If Masuaku had left two years ago I’d have not lost any sleep.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:48 am I can't say I am overly enamoured with these latest rumours
I would be totally against selling Benhrama, and to a lesser extent Soucek
I am not keen on brining Lingard back and JWP is extremely overrated IMHO, unless you are simply hoping to score lots of set pieces
I don't know anything about Aguerd so I can't comment on that

Find it strange people can’t see what a fantastic player he is. But again it’s never gonna happen, zilch chance. We aren’t signing Southamptons captain & best player, just like Phillips & Raphinha in January it’s made up bids for unattainable players.

Bit surprised that we'll listen to offers for Suey, but not exactly gutted about it. Think Sully will get us Gareth Bale as his replacement

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
When do we expect the club to announce the list of players leaving this summer...
We know it's likely to be Frederick's, Yarmo and Noble
But what of Oggy, Kral, Areola and Fabianski?
Announcement soon surely?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Kral is only a loan so won’t be an announcement as such, he’ll just return to his club.
Fabianski and Ogbonna will likely get one year extensions soon.
And I expect the club to sign Areola permanently in the next week or 2

Oggy has signed a new deal and is staying, I believe Fab is too along with Areola signing permanently.
Kral will of course be going.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Moyes said he’s trying to get more names in this summer. Is this why he’s looking at James Ward Prowse. Perhaps look at more players with double barrel surnames as cheaper way of getting more names in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ainslev
Maitland-Niles etc..
Maitland-Niles etc..

I've not seen any official announcements about Fab or Oggy or have I missed that?

I don’t know why but I have a sense that he would have a similar impact to that of Stuart Downing. Good signing but without setting the world alight.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
An old boxing Analogy
Speed kills
That’s why who ever we get a need them to be fairly rapid
Wether it’s the lad from hull or lingard we need the quick
Transition up the pitch to turn defence into attack
Jesse done it very well first time round
Wether he can replicate it is a different story
I think a lot of us West Ham fans see JWP as a lot of others viewed rice
Brilliant in our eyes and saints but a bit meh to others
Until he rocks up and starts playing then you can see the hype
Fwiw we need a few cm and I think he’ll fit in nicely and his game will be raised by playing with better players

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Soucek has 2 years left on his contract so we're in the position where we have to give him the 100+k pw contract he wants or we have to move him on while his stock is still high... Moyes, (according to reports over the last couple of months), doesn't think he's worth huge wages so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation...
If we sold him for 40+ mil on paper it would be good business, (not to spurs or Arsenal though..!).
I can't see Lingard signing, we're offering far less money than Newcastle. We need to move on...
Aguerd looks like he could be handy, fast, left footed & great at quick long passes out of defence. Would be a great signing imo...

re: Ward Prowse.
He would be gettable for something like £35m-£45m, imo. He is 27 and if he wants to spend more time in the upper parts of the league and challenging for things he is almost certainly at the point of needing to move. Many top 6 clubs will also consider his age a red line.
He achieved 16 G+A last year and 19 this.
He is probably the best deliverer of a ball in the league and he is already effective at free kicks etc without needing a Soucek in the side.
He is, imo, clearly top 7 standard and almost has that Payet/Beckham vibe if you get a FK within a certain distance of goal. His work ethic is totally in line with Moyes' beliefs.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Selling Soucek would be madness, we already need a back up dm to rotate with him and Rice, there's so many other positions we need sorting centre back centre forward left back left winger/midfielder,I don't believe Moyes would sell Siucek his far to important to this team

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
"Following the news that Tottenham have put in £150m of equity funds into the club, the club are clearly backing Antonio Conte in the transfer market this summer.
"They will target several positions including goalkeeper, centre back, wing back, central midfielder and a striker. As many as six or seven players could arrive. They will need to find the right balance with home grown players.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is almost exactly the same as what we need, question is will Sullivan do it.

Just read they have also offered Tarkowski 120k a week. Utterly bonkers.

If he doesn't then I wouldn't be surprised to see Moyes follow Pearce out the door, esp. now his reputation has been restored.ageing hammer wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 8:26 am

Big summer for the owners to show their ambition, or lack thereof. We shall see.
