Anyone with half a brain should know not to compare what politicians and civil servants did during lockdowns with NHS staff.
What with Richard Drax with his 150m fortune saying that the measures today are "throwing red meat at socialists" the ability to read the mood of the nation is hard to do it seems for some. He's probably still pissed off James Bond blew up his brother Hugo's space station in Moonraker...

The Canadians seem to disagree that he’s that anti-Putin. And if he’s that anti-Putin it begs the question “how is he still alive”.
Perhaps if we get a gander at the documents on the concerns our spies had that the PM seems keen for nobody to see we might be able to form a better opinion.

Alfa Sa'adu, a guy I knew as a kid, had been a consultant, headed up a health authority, then retired. When the pandemic hit he was one of several retired consultants to volunteer his services, which were gratefully accepted. While working in ICU in his late 60s, he contracted the virus, and was gone within days.Oldun wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 4:47 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-61587994

Re: The Johnson Government 2019-202?
I’ve been thinking this too recently.
Global inflation was accelerated by stagnation of the economy. On top of this we (uk) gave whatever money we had stored away to enable many people to spend time sat indoors or on the beach on many occasions. Not only did i not get a chance to sit on a beach or take any ‘free’ bunce, I continued to work and now have to pay the penalty for the political cravings to shutdown businesses, schools and leisure economy.
As much as a disgrace and poor government decision it was to continue to lockdown our economy. It has to be reiterated that nearly every other parliamentary party in Westminster was asking for longer/more lockdowns and resistant for schools to fully open after very effective vaccines were administered.
Both Sturgeon and that Welsh div were fine examples of how other parties would have continued. I bet the only reason they have stopped now is because it was looking entirely stupid compared to England being open.

Within a few months he was caught in the ecclestone affair and in TV telling us he was a pretty straight sort of guy. By 2001 we had had the Sainsbury thing, the vaccines contract and hinjuda.
By 2005 the Iraq war, 45 minutes claims, Mittal affair, David Kelly, cash for honours.
Wouldn't any of these incidents meet your hate people who do wrong yet don't do the right thing when caught? If so then you can surely understand why Tory voters would still support Johnson in spite of everything after all you did the same thing.

As I said I detest Blair and how he ran the Labour Party and it was a time when I realised no party gives me what I want ,a party that works for the country.SammyLeeWasOffside wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 8:55 pm Within a few months he was caught in the ecclestone affair and in TV telling us he was a pretty straight sort of guy. When I voted it made next to no difference to the outcome of the election, that’s the way our system works.
I hate 2 things in life ,liars and bullies.
Once i know someone has lied to me that’s it,after that I never believe I word they tell me .
My anger towards Boris is because he is a proven liar and and does not care about doing it over and over again .

71% of us don't think That Johnson is genuinely sorry about what happened in his house during lockdown. That includes 49% of Conservative voters.
72% of us think he's lying when he lied, .... sorry claimed, that he thought he was attending work events rather than parties. 51% of Conservative voters said he was definitely not or probably bot telling the truth. Only 10% of Tory voters thought he was definitely telling the truth with another 29% saying he was probably telling the truth.
I think these views are entrenched now. Most of us can see through him and don't like being taken for fools so charades like his 'performance' in the Commons yesterday just help to further bake in these views.

Dave, a very large proportion of the general public would say that they don’t trust any politician. It’s the old joke, how do you know when a politician is lying ? his lips move. So I suspect if you wanted to narrow it down to one politician who happens to be the focal point of uk politics after a dodgy few weeks, you can make a snap poll look quite powerful. Ask the very same question in 6 months and you’ll get a slightly different answer.DaveWHU1964 wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 9:40 pm 71% of us don't think That Johnson is genuinely sorry about what happened in his house during lockdown. I’ve absolutely no idea how a poll that asked the public the same question but about politicians collectively would look but it wouldn’t be at all surprised if the figure was getting on for 60% !
I honestly still can’t believe we are still using political polling to try and demonstrate the worth of an opinion. Very few polls conducted of recent years have stood up to even light scrutiny and it becomes more of a surprise when a poll actually gets a bit close to an outcome.

Which particular "dodgy few weeks" are you referring to, Raymond? de Pfeffel's 1st to 52nd as Prime Minister? The 53rd to 104th?
105th to now, perhaps? All of the above?

These appear to be the actions of a man that has full confidence there are no other scandals coming down the pipeline at him.Boris Johnson has watered down the ministerial code and blocked a bid to give his ethics advisor the power to investigate him.
Just days after Sue Gray’s report slammed No10’s leadership for the “culture” that led to Partygate, the Prime Minister issued a new version of the rules for ministers - allowing ministers to break the rules without resigning.
And he dismissed calls from his ethics advisor Lord Geidt, who had asked for the power to launch investigations into behaviour independently in the wake of the Downing Street flat row.

Ministerial aide quits over Gray report
Admittedly nobody's ever heard of him but it adds to the drip drip.A Tory MP has quit as a ministerial aide over the "deep mistrust" created by Sue Gray's report on lockdown parties in Downing Street.
Paul Holmes, an assistant to Home Secretary Priti Patel, said he was "shocked and angered" by the revelations in the report.
He added his work for constituents had been "tarnished by the toxic culture that seemed to have permeated No 10."
Ms Gray's report highlighted widespread Covid rule-breaking and drunkenness.
In a statement, Mr Holmes said the controversy had taken a "great deal of time away" from government efforts to tackle the cost of living crisis.
