Being a philandering sex addict is as bad as being a alcoholic or gambling drug addict.

One of those lines that's too easy to joke about , but that took some courage to write , RS - you're a good man , mate . :newthumb:

Now , if you're done with that address book.... :winker:

Sorry , couldn't resist , take care , mate and be happy .

Morning Tomos ( Ron )
Sorry to hear about your IT frustrations and plunge back into problems try and take heart from the good things your lads been doing it should be very proud of him.
Get out and walk you live in a lovely spot up there
Take the camera out and shoot some wild life .
My response probably sounds trite compared to the genius of Mushy Tenners and the others.
Just sending my contact list over the only drawback its full of loose posh blonde women after one thing.
Seriously good luck my friend.

I'm a Peter , mate [ I was just acknowledging Ron at the end there ] but thanks just the same .

I had to have one of my toenails removed two weeks ago today - the recovery time is 4-12 weeks and just walking a few steps can be sore - the toe itself has got inflamed too and the skin around it looks red [ I may need antibiotics ] .

It's our Daughter who's suffering just now , she's totally stressed out with this IVF treatment she's having to go through , back and forth to Glasgow and having to juggle work .

My wife has also developed tinnitus and that has also been upsetting .

If it's not one thing it's another just now .

Lots of people would swap with them I know - your problems are exactly that , yours and we have to learn to cope .

Appreciate your message , RS , very kind of you - I'm happy to hear the relationship with your Daughter has improved , Family is everything .

Rigoberts,
There is no real pecking order for addiction, they are all as bad as each other. It's the consequences of those addictions that are important. I know little about sex addiction but it does sound like it comes under the self harming spectre, the same as drug and alcohol abuse.
Your honesty is an example to everyone and I guess it's hard on a forum like this not to make distraction jokes as it seems a bit like an open goal.
Can I just ask if you've ever sought professional help for this? There has to be a reason and it would be easy for the likes of myself to make assumptions such as low self esteem etc but that would be wrong as we don't have the right qualifications to make such shallow observations. Hence advice probably isn't the right thing, apart from seeking help from a professional.

I also hope both you and your ex can get some happiness together, the honesty you have shown is a great first step but I guess it's really difficult and embarrassing to talk openly about yourself in the way you have with your ex.

Samba,
Am really sorry to hear about your depression. What strikes me here is the reliance on your laptop, I would have assumed a few days away from it would do you the world of good but it's the opposite for you mate.
Goes to show how assumptions are quite often incorrect. Either way I hope you feel well very soon and if you need any help (and that goes for everyone else on here as well) then please give the forum a shout.
You will be surprised at the kindness of others at times.

Tomos, why the hell did they cut off your toe nail? It sounds bloody painful.
Hope your daughter gets some good news very soon and your wife's ears stop their eternal ringing.

Best of mental health to everyone and take care of yourselves please!
It's a lovely sunny day down here today.

Yes I have had some counselling but couldn't really relate to any counsellor I've met .

Thank you, mushy. Yes, it really didn't help.
My laptop & being on here is my attempt at not feeling lonely & alone. I've always had trouble making & keeping friendships & relationships.
Probably my own fault. Sometimes it would be nice to just go for a walk with someone. I don't really have that anymore.

Don't think it's anyone's fault Samba, it's just who you are. We are all different and sometimes our real selves don't fit in with what we are led to believe are social norms.
I also live on my own but conversely rarely if ever feel the sadness of loneliness. I am ok with my own company but also find it quite easy to pop out and find some sort of company be it general socialising or family. That's just who I am though. I think that makes me an introverted extrovert, that's just a label of course and might not be correct.
Same as Rigoberts, am around quite a lot and quite happy to go for a stroll, pint or similar.
We've talked about a get together quite a lot on here but never quite managed it, it's still an idea that's worth pursuing I reckon.

I've lived alone for quite a while now & most of the time I really don't mind it. In fact a lot of the time, probably prefer it now.
It's so true that you can be alone & not feel at all lonely. And you can live with other people & yet feel very lonely.
It can depend on other factors though; how old you are, where you are & what has happened to you in life.
In my case I tend to think that it's when I'm really struggling with depression that I THEN feel lonely, not that I get depression from living alone, although of course, some people do & there's no shame in that.
In fact, being terribly depressed & seeing the bad effect it can have on people you live with & love, can itself be very stressful & make you feel even worse.

Dont Worry Tenners the naughty nurse from saffron Walden will give you a bed bath or the Southampton season ticket holders wife will take you down the river. She's bought a cottage near mine her husbands still mourning the loss of le Tissier (his favourite goldfish ) who got taken by a heron.
If not you can review my veg plot and impart your vast knowledge .
Anyway enough fun there's people genuinely struggling and a few of you are welcome down here to walk talk etc.

Having lived with depression for many years the day when I began to realise the effect it was having on Her OFTness, was a dark day indeed.

This place is a Godsend, KUMB in general but his thread especially. Fantastic work everyone.

I

Good luck and very best wishes Samba :blowkiss:

I told them it was you .

I had suffered from gout for years , started when I was working on the ferry but when the bridge was built I took a job as a gardener and some days I was in agony with the gout invariably hitting on some part of the foot or other [ instep or ankle mostly ] - for some reason , possibly bad footwear , possibly the gout the toe next to the big toe developed a bump of some sort and the nail on it became misshapen , the Podiatrist called it a ' Ram's Horn ' nail - I've just looked it up online , it's called Onychogryphosis - it didn't look anywhere near as bad as in the pictures but it was difficult to trim it so I just asked her ' Can it be removed ? ' - I was surprised when she said she could do it at the Surgery .

I've always been very brave .

Yeah, I get that. Other people I can do without.

What seems to puzzle some is how a person (eg, me) can go through experiencing great sadness ( my baby daughter /parents/just about everyone I know at the moment(!) /etc) , passing away, without necessarily falling into a deep depression, whereas (and I'm honestly being serious here) the sight of roadkill has put me in a spiral that ended up with a section.
For me, at least, I can be hopelessly sad, but still not depressed.

[If this is all too personal, and it does seem a bit, on reflection, mods pls delete.]

Firstly am no mod but the whole point of this thread is for people to discuss what they want in any way they want without fear of judgement in any way.
There's nothing wrong with personal information Tenners, as long as you feel comfortable disclosing which you clearly do.
I am interested in the difference for you (and others) between what you refer to as being hopelessly sad and depression. In my ignorance I sort of thought the two were closely related. Would be grateful if you could explain it all, that's if you are able to of course.
Thanks Tenners.
