1) Failed season in the Prem (Vlasic?)
2) Racks up similar stats to Benrahma in C'ship
3) Good season in Spain but seemingly hampered by injury as he only makes 23 league apps

Furthermore, according to reports, we might have bought him a year ago for about the half a price.

So, basically, we're overpaying for an inconsistent winger with injury concerns who won't cut it in the Prem.

Who do I invoice for that excellent scouting report? :smiler:
Apparantly he’s a guaranteed, iron-clad upgrade on Benny…..for almost twice the money. :?

I quite like the look of him but it’s an expensive punt especially when you throw in the Dutch flakey attitude factor. Doesn’t seem very Moyesey….

I remember being linked with him and watching a few of his highlights which struggled to make him look anything more than the second coming of Pablo Armero, happy he's going there

If we don’t get a CM at least as good as Soucek we are going to flog the two we’ve got into the ground again and no amount of random wide-forward-come-CFs are going to mitigate for that.

The need for an athletic left back goes without saying.

It looks like Chelea's move for Raphina has hit the rocks. His agent, Deco, has put the spanner in the works by offering g him to Barcelona. Would that be Ant and Deco?

He wasn't in the official Champions league team of the season. He was in the Official Champions league fantasy league team of the season

Still looks an exciting signing though

Yeah, I hate to say it but Spuds are going for it. I reckon Kane will drop back into the deeper role with Richarlison up top. Son and Kulesevski either side. Bissouma and Hojbjerg in midfield. It does look a good team.

He's too old to be offering much above that.
Agreed.

That said, I do think having him in a squad adds some interesting intangibles beyond the obvious.

For one thing, I suspect the forward players love having him there because it might buy them a slightly different approach from the opposition defenders around the box. It's not just speculation to suggest opposition managers explicitly instruct their defenders to be careful about putting themselves in situations that might bring about free kicks – Pep and Klopp both went on record in the past season saying they'd done just that ahead of their games against Southampton. If the two best managers in the world are having to tweak their defensive approach to accommodate the risk you can be sure the bulk of the other managers are too. That probably buys an extra millisecond of time for Antonio or whoever else whenever they're approaching the box.

And very specifically for a team like ours who are rarely more than a goal down at the end of 90 minutes, I can see having someone who can fire in a free kick 5 or 6 times a season being a real asset for those occasions when the traditional attacking route simply hasn't worked on the day. You'd be in with an extra avenue of scoring right up until the final whistle in our numerous tight games, probably particularly useful in fixtures against the top teams where open play shots are at a premium.

Dunno, blowing a large wedge on a wide player he seemingly has no time for looks to have become an annual thing. Third time's a charm maybe.

I know many of you get excited at the prospect of signing absolutely anyone but I really couldn’t be more underwhelmed with Danjuma.

So much money for a bloke who couldn’t get into a relegated Bournemouth side.

Seems a lot of money for the Dutch Dan James (I'm continuing with this joke whether you like it or not...)

The same people who label Antonio a significant injury risk based on his (hopefully) past injuries, seem happy to ignore them here where the player has a consistent history of muscle injuries. Massive alarm bells for a player who depends on pace.

Maybe the Antonio diet will sort him out, but otherwise it doesn't really matter how talented he is if we rarely see him on the pitch.

Might be my ignorance towards La Liga but the first I heard of him was on Monday.

I’ve got to be honest, this sounds like a Sullivan deal. There’s nothing about this guy that makes me think Moyes wants him.

I’m also not sure another shiny winger is an immediate priority but as always, very happy to be proved wrong.

Danjuma would be a real upgrade for Benrahma on the left no doubt about that. Power, pace , technique,2 footed, scoring ability.
Hope he comes.

Also want to stress out to some people on here that Cullen wasnt lighting up the Belgian league with Anderlecht like some suggest, he isnt the captain off the team thats the goalkeeper. He even upset Kompany by saying he froze during the cupfinal because off stress ( all to see on tv in a show called Mauve) after the cupfinal he didnt play anymore in the play off.

I mean, signing a potential starter for our best XI who plays wide left and centre forward is pretty much ideal in principle. That left wing spot is one of the few that doesn't have a nailed on starter.

The wisdom of doing it in this instance is impossible to judge though without knowing the effect on the rest of the jigsaw that we can't see – overall budget, whether it means we ditch a specialist CF for yet another window, economise on a LB, turn down Lingard etc.

It makes it almost impossible to divine whether to be in favour of it or not.
