It'll soon be time to put a time limit on him signing the deal we have put on the table for some time now. Either take it or leave it but we should finally want a resolution so we can target other players more willing to come here. I say end of next week latest then move on if he doesn't.

What I would say is that a lot of the latest rumours have emerged after players have signed for someone else (hence your bad news comment) which means we are doing things quietly in the background.
Just try and ignore the noise!

All footballers want money.Colours never run wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:09 am £150,000 a week PLUS his big signing on fee?
If its money you really want, maybe Newcastle would be the best destination for you, Lingard. He had 1 brief purple patch on loan with us and has done the square root of **** all either side of that for 3 years. To think he demands that kind of money is laughable.
£100,000 max a week and even that I think is still a bit too generous.

I have not seen a single comment from Moyes regarding the Lingard bloke?
The only information about him is either on here or Twatter.
So, why accuse Moyes of dithering when, in fact, he is actually very busy at the moment with pre season training.

Two players signed in the last two weeks, how can that be anything other than great news?

Hopefully that 150k a week stuff is true so we can finally move away from him. Let him go somewhere else.

Signed Areola just four days ago ,mate.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:15 am We don't get very much good news here lately do we? Hopefully next week changes that.
Aguerd eleven days ago.
Seems like an eternity because of the conversation.
It sounds like Lingard and possibly Maehle next. Broja has an air of inevitability about it if we really want him, but might be one where we hold off as long as possible in the hope of a loan so that a permanent fee can be committed elsewhere.

This will most probably be Lingard's last contract in football, can't blame him for wanting to secure a lucrative deal.
Tis what it is.

Agreed. Just hope we aren’t the club that give it to him. Not at those numbers.

I don't expect he will be, more likely that we'll give him a decent signing on fee to offset it.EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:30 am Agreed. Just hope we aren’t the club that give it to him. Not at those numbers.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Agreed, and if he had other better offers we’d probably know by now.
We were always likely to need a Bosman and/or a loan or two to sign 6 or 7 new players. We are a month away from the season starting, our international players return to training next week and with 7 games in August we really need a pretty much complete squad within the next couple of weeks to get everyone bedded in and ready for Citeh. Right now we are very short on numbers. Let’s not do the usual West Ham thing and play 5 league games and the Conference qualifiers with half a squad, for a change let’s be ready with a new lb, cm, striker and wide forward added to Areola and Aguerd in July. Those 4 are all essential recruits likely to cost money, get it done and then in August if the budget allows bring in another 1 or 2 on loan or Bosman in whatever position Moyes requires once he’s made decisions on likes of Coventry and the u23 hopefuls.
If Lingard isn’t ready to join now let him wait until then, if he goes elsewhere so be it, after his loan here he must know if he wants a return, he’s a good player and would be a useful addition, but he’s 30 at Xmas, hasn’t played much for 18 months and just maybe isn’t the star attraction he thinks he is.

I wouldn't give him more than 3 years, with ab option of 1 more season on top if all being well and he performs well.

Exactly this, you can't have him on more than Declan. The harmony and camaraderie of the squad is way more important than one flash in the pan show pony.EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:26 am Hopefully that 150k a week stuff is true so we can finally move away from him. Absolutely,.EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:30 am Agreed. Just hope we aren’t the club that give it to him. Not at those numbers.
It's also his last chance to get the right footballing move whilst still at his peak.
He might have to decide what's more important.
Not overly fussed now, if he joins great. If not let's move on and get a LW.

Dec is refusing a new contract though, so I expect a few at the club will be on more than him.snooperpooper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:33 am Exactly this, you can't have him on more than Declan. The harmony and camaraderie of the squad is way more important than one flash in the pan show pony.
What Declan earns at this point, is somewhat irrelevant I'd say, because if he was purely motivated by money he would easily be the club's highest earner by now.
The ball is in his court.

there's wanting a lucrative deal, and there's been realistic, though.

Who cares about the money? Why should we care? I don't care if he cost a million a week, if he improves us and gets us up off of our seats, then honestly - why should it bother us?EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:30 am Agreed. I've never understood this hang-up with wages. We never used to give a **** - and some of us still don't.

What's unrealistic about £150k a week?VeniceHammer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:36 am there's wanting a lucrative deal, and there's been realistic, though.
Almost par for the course now for top players, isn't it?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Surely what Lingard wants a week will be negotiated onto his signing on fee for the duration of the contract.
If he wants 150k a week, negotiate that down to 130k - 140k a week, actually pay him 100k a week but the additional 30/40k a week amalgamate it into the signing on fee? guess that is how it is done anyway is it? if anyone could confirm?
