Transfer windows on here are always the same…

Some feel worried, quite understandably if you ask me; we’re told EVERY window to ‘wait until the end of the window to judge’, and more often than not we’re left disappointed and the squad isn’t big/good enough.

Some tell others how to feel (to not worry), which isn’t really an ok thing to do; the worriers can’t help worrying(!) but there’s also more important things in the world to worry about, and a lot of what’s posted on here is a bit over the top.

Some are very matter of fact about our situation (they’ve usually seen a lot worse) and others don’t care about what happens in the summer and winter windows, and just care about what they see on the pitch.

For all we know there is actually an understanding in place from all parties that if Sterling + whoever join Chelsea, it frees up Broja, who may or may not have indicated to us he’s keen on the move.

If that what starts the season, I’d take 17th now!

I'm pretty sure we'll sign Broja, Onana and Pellegrini, then if no Lingard, Januzaj.

If the team that finished 7th starts the season with an improved CB you'll take 17th.

That makes sense

What’s dya think Broja & Onana are gonna cost? 55/60 for the pair. With Aguerd that would mean spending around 90m on them 3 alone. I can’t see Sullivan sanctioning that.

Some worry. Some post purely negative "facts" based on nothing but rumours/heresay and scenarios they have conjured in their mind.
That's fine it's a forum. But it works both ways so they need to prepared to have their ramblings shot down because the negativity is exhausting.

Right now I think only real “ facts” we have are that we have a very small squad, smaller than the one that ran out of steam last year, and in January despite a lot of noise we completely failed to supplement the team, and as a result performance dropped dramatically.
I’m sure we all hope the next few weeks see a few in and we start the season with a squad built to cope with the 60 games we may
( hopefully) end up playing. But we’ve had those hopes before, it’s not the first time we’ve been close to success, previously we failed to invest, January being the last, and those experiences influence expectation. Maybe it’s the hope that kills, I just hope we spend the money we should be capable of, we keep progressing, and enjoy more great nights like Seville at home, Lyon away and wins against Liverpool Chelsea and co, it’s there if the club wants it.

If I was Moyes…and I had both a finite budget and an intruding boss…..

I’d (i) not want to overcommit to ‘nice-to-haves’ which use my budget up before I’d sorted my ‘must haves’ and (ii) I’d want to lead every decision personally, taking an active and not passive role (which may result in us not being able to multi task too much).

It’s not impossible to consider that Moyes will have seen left centre back as number one issue - given the situation with Ogbonna (age and injury returning) as well as our defence (the most obvious place to improve YoY versus peers).

Secondly, he’ll have been aware of the impact from prior seasons of losing Fab and also the constraint that was the timing of the option on Areola. Priority #2

Running to plan so far imo.

I see less options out there for left back and centre mid - they’d be my next two priorities (although I have a concern that left back improvement will be limited by the owner not wishing to spend the required amount on fullback).

Without meaning to sound complacent, there are more options for striker and left ‘wing’ out there (and I also think we have a ‘back-up’ plan already lined up with Sarr and Dennis rumours). So I think we can be more patient there.
