The amount of people that were (in some ways rightfully) going mental in January. This is exactly why we waited.

I imagine we are using this line as a means to have Scamacca not bail out too soon, in case something went wrong with the Broja deal.

It would be unbelievable business if we did, because Antonio will surely be slowing down soon (he already is, at least by the numbers). Broja and Scamacca as our two centre forwards going into the next era would be superb but we realistically don’t have the money or the cache to maintain a situation like that.
Could we even accomodate both of them?

I don't think we could without rotation.

Would be happy with Broja but that's because we have all seen him on the EPL.

If we can avoid the buy back clause we are good to go.

Agree we are still a bit short on cover at CM unless Coventry is going to take Nobles spot and Flynn takes Kraals.

2 x forwards
1x lingard
2 x left backs (as being rwported)
No way will we get 5 players this week or will we?

No way we spend £70m on 2 strikers this summer.
Neither are guaranteed so we keep going with both. Maybe one will get there, if both gey there we will choose.

Has to be simultaneously otherwise you loose 2 weeks of negotiations.

Maybe we sign 1 and loan 1.

If we can get Broja and Lingard in this week and that follows with Onana and then a LB then I think that will be a very very good window for us and leaves is with a great squad for the season.

Can’t say I’m that bothered about a buy back clause. As long as the figure is realistic for us (ie a big price), then it’s up to Broja to do the business which only helps us if he’s banging them in.

looking like we’re bringing in 3 players at their peak (GK, CB, AM/Winger) and three very promising youngsters (CM, CM, FW) plus a LB (who knows). If this is dithering, then dither away Dave… :scarfer:

It would honestly be outrageous to get both. Just can't imagine it. IF we did though, it's got the feel of the Tevez/Mascherano double surprise deal (but without hopefully the nonsense contracts).

Come on West Ham....

Always good to see transfer activity with incomings.

But we must remember we've had a good few outgoings.

Noble
Yarmolenko
Kral
Frederick's
And possibly a few more who haven't left yet

Are we strengthening the squad or are we reducing the average age of the squad and reducing the wage bill (which is not a bad thing).

I think we need to get our other 3 targets over the line before it looks like a stronger squad.
Let's hope David Moyes and the Board can do it.

That doesn't sound like we're any further forward than we were last week. We've made an offer. They haven't accepted it.

I don't mind a low % sell on, or add ons, but a buy back clause should be a big no no

If he goes on to be as good as Moyes clearly thinks he will be he could be worth a lot lot more in a couple of years time

The thing with buy back clauses is they don't account for inflation and football inflation which moves it at it's own pace. £50 million might be the equivalent of £25 million in a few years time.

I don’t like a bit back clause but as long as it’s high enough it shouldn’t be a deal breaker. It’s not really different from a release clause just only available to one club).

That said I’d prefer Scamacca personally

Everyone's favourite C&H is saying all the twitter stuff about Broja isn't true, that we haven't agreed personal terms with the player and that he 'isn't close' to joining us.

Typical. Depends who you believe I guess! :crylol:

Although, notably, C&H also doesn't say anything about how close we actually are with Broja, or what's actually going on with him and our bid. Just poo poos the latest twitter claims.

And yet Fabrizio, Dharmesh and every other reliable source says the complete opposite :chin:
