Our inability to secure our targets makes me think that our pull to the wider player community may not be what we think it is, and that our own perception of the club is overinflated.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
You have to assume we will bring someone else in this week to replace Diop and who will go straight into the team against Forest.
Diop was told no go until replacement is found, which is fair enough as he us under contract to us, you can not pick and choose when or if you leave whether you are playing or not, that is what a squad game is about.
I know CB, LB and DCM has been prioritized but a right sided attacker and a Lingard type No 10 is also being pursued with the expectation 3 or 4 come in. May be a loan or 2 in those with options to buy.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
The crazy thing is had Diop made himself available yesterday he may well have played himself into the team, having to play Johnson there was ridiculous but my take on it was that Diop deal was done last week and there was an agreement he would not be risked against City whilst we tied up the target we have. Backfired a tad.

I like the Idea of a right sided attacker to help out Bowen. Bowen is quality but can't be expected to do all 60 games for us this year.pezza20 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:21 am You have to assume we will bring someone else in this week to replace Diop and who will go straight into the team against Forest.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
That makes more sense than Diop refusing to be available tbh, but then it's a lot easier to get any discontent aimed at an outgoing player isn it? Not the first time it's happened either.pezza20 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:23 am The crazy thing is had Diop made himself available yesterday he may well have played himself into the team, having to play Johnson there was ridiculous but my take on it was that Diop deal was done last week and there was an agreement he would not be risked against City whilst we tied up the target we have. I doubt Diop would've played his way into the first team regardless. Looks clear we want him gone and he's the one that brings in a fee. Totally our fault.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's hard to keep players happy, especially new signings moving to the country. I think, in reality, Daws and Oggy have to accept they are going to have very minimal game time, and that whoever comes in should probably be a long term replacement for either anyway, but it's not the easiest task to manage.Albie Beck wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:17 am My point is that with the situation the club are currently in (modestly successful and lots of games, potentially...) there isn't really such a thing as "first choice" and "backup". We have three Zouma, Diop, (Aguerd, or Sally if he happens, would be one) to primarily rotate from, but the other two - Dawson/Oggy - would come in on a regular basis. Og, and possibly both, wil be off end of season, so if we do bring in another premium CB it's only some proper forward planning.

Agreed. I've also been wondering if they have second thoughts about signing when they see the likes of Rice and Soucek (two significant attractions) delay contract extensions.

I like that in the last hour we've gone from £17m, to £15m, to £13m plus addons.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
I know very little of Kehrer, but I like that he can play both full back positions, which would suggest he's probably comfortable either side of the centre back position too.
Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
I've grown quite fond of Garry too.
What's happened to Atilla the big mad Hungarian guy? Or Diallo at PSG.
That free agent from Dortmund it looks like he's been injured for the best part of 5 years

I'm calling this out as a balls up from the club.HammerMan2004 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:33 am I like that in the last hour we've gone from £17m, to £15m, to £13m plus addons.
Didnt Fulham offer £13m+ add ons a month ago?
We've literally had this agreed this whole time, told the player he can leave then sat on our hands for a month untill we get a replacement.
Reports that Diop was told two weeks ago that he can go.
No wonder he's peeved off

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Kehrer seems like he’d be a solid signing. 20 caps for Germany, bit of a utility man for PSG. Played just as much at RB as he did CB for them last year.
Seemed to play CDM for Schalke quite a bit, so would suggest he’s decent on the ball.
Think I’d still slightly prefer Szalai given he’s 24, been a first choice CB at Fenerbache & is left footed.
Although Kehrer only has a year left on his PSG deal, so might be able to get a cheap deal done or even a loan if PSG are happy for us to cover the wages, thus freeing up £10-15m towards an attacking mid….

Don't know much about Kehrer but i'm going to use the logic that PSG signed him and played him so he must be half decent

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Seeing a lot of reporting today that Kehrer can play at left-back.
He's right-footed and as far as I know has only ever played centre-back and right-back.

No chance Diop would have been able to play himself into the teampezza20 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:23 am The crazy thing is had Diop made himself available yesterday he may well have played himself into the team, having to play Johnson there was ridiculous but my take on it was that Diop deal was done last week and there was an agreement he would not be risked against City whilst we tied up the target we have. He knew full well that however well he played, he would be benched again as soon as Nayaf/ Oggy/ Dawson/ new signing were available
He just isn't Moyes' cup of tea
