Trump is allowed to release the inventory of what they seized. You’d think if there was nothing of note he’d be twittering the f*** out of it….

So, Antifa, sorry, the FBI, were apparently looking for missing documents concerning the US' nuclear weapons.

Absolutely nothing whatsoever to worry about, then.

I don't even need to read the news to know that the carnival barkers are claiming that Trump took the documents to prevent them falling into the wrong hands.

I don't know what the big deal is. He just wanted to keep the nuclear codes. Honestly, I thought this was supposed to be the 'Land of the the free', yet a former President, with a huge axe to grind, a massive superiority complex, a cult-like following and only 7 braincells isn't allowed to hang onto the codes for th most powerful weaponry in the world capable of destroying us all in a matter of minutes?

George Washington, Colt Seavers and Hulk Hogan must be spinning in their graves this morning.

A former president who was unknowingly assisted by the Russians, into the White House?

That one?

As I say, absolutely nothing to see here. Nothing at all.

Read Asha’s explanation of what’s going on. Interesting explanation. Worst case scenario (which surely won’t pertain to him), for the don includes up to the death penalty, a la Rosenbergs, spies executed in the 1950’s.

About 40% of the country think this is the end of America. The Socialists have taken over & are using the FBI to attack law abiding citizens like trump.

It started with the stolen election now they're trying to lock up the greatest president America has ever known.

All we can do is pray to Jesus. And arm ourselves with a ridiculous amount of guns.

That bloke reminds me of the trumpies back in Florida who would just believe any lie, no matter how outrageous and despite facts to the contrary, that showed trump in a positive light.

The main one was that he started his business with a small $8,000 loan from his dad.

The actual figure was over $500,000,000 according to his dad's own tax records but that's almost the same amount.

From BBC News

A warrant shows the FBI took 11 sets of classified documents from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this week, US media report.

On Thursday, the Justice Department asked a court to unseal the search warrant, a move considered rare amid an ongoing investigation.

This has not yet formally taken place, but multiple US outlets say they have seen the warrant.

Mr Trump denies any wrongdoing. He said the items were unclassified and safe.

Citing documents, the Wall Street Journal reports that items removed by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago include 20 boxes, binders of photos, and a clemency letter written on behalf of political strategist Roger Stone, a long-time Trump ally.

Also recovered was information about the "President of France", the paper says, although it is unclear what that refers to.

The list shows that one list of documents is marked "TS/SCI" - or top-secret/sensitive compartmented information - a classification level reserved for information that could cause "exceptionally grave" damage to US security, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Additionally, the list is said to include four sets of "top secret documents", three sets of "secret documents, and three sets of "confidential" documents.

No further details about the contents of the documents were provided.

In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said the items recovered were "all declassified" and securely stored.

He said he would have been willing to hand the items over before the search warrant was carried out.

"They could have had it anytime they wanted - and that includes long ago," he said. "All they had to do was ask."

Monday's search marked the first time the property of a former president has been searched as part of a criminal investigation.

Mr Trump and many of his Republican allies have condemned the move as politically motivated.

Obviously there's going to be some kind of way out of it for him, but from what is being reported (in respect of the TS/SCI doc alone) and his quoted response to the seizure of documents, he's surely liable under that law?

If you aren't allowed to remove it from the White House (and take it to a private address) and he accepts that he had, protestations that they could have asked for it are irrelevant.

Those bracelets are twinking :D

JustSecurity is usually a solid resource for reporting but Asha in particular seems to drift towards drama over clarity.

Fortunately, in this case, we have Breitbart on the case to bring us the unseemly details, albeit unintentionally...

Breitbart, the right website founded by Andrew Breitbart and once run by Steve Bannon, disseminated the contents of the warrant in updates and, seemingly without knowing it, revealed Trump is under investigation for violations related to the unlawful storing of national defense-related materials:

UPDATE 2:25 p.m. ET:

Attachment B to the warrant delineates the three statutes which agents are pursuing evidence under. They are: 18 U.S.C. § § 793, 2071, and 1519.

“18 USC 793 is the Espionage Act,” noted D.C. reporter Hugo Lowell on Twitter as the full impact of Breitbart’s reporting quickly became clear.

Lowe noted the warrant also disclosed Trump is under investigation for violating three other statutes:

18 USC 2071 — Concealment, removal or mutilation
18 USC 793 — Gathering, transmitting or losing defence information
18 USC 1519 — Destruction, alteration or falsification of records in Federal investigations
