Multi-year deal too. Not sure I like that someone that's had his day is keeping younger, up and coming drivers out of the sport, but there you go.

Missed the GP this week sadly but it sounds like I've already seen that race from Ferrari a few times this season anyway.

Alonso has a history of terrible moves, so this has great potential.

Stroll is pumping in so much, nicking some decent staff, but can he create a title chasing car with 2 years?

And how will daddy's boy look being hammered by Alonso each week?

Will be far tougher than Seb....

I’m not so sure. They have been hijacking Vettel to make Lance look good so don’t be surprised if they do the same to Alonso.

They can try but sure as the sun will rise tomorrow Fernando will not tolerate that. Only one thing matters to ‘Magic Alonso’ and that’s the man in the Mirror.

This could get my public and very messy. Wants to drive for McLaren by the looks of it (could Danny Ric go the other way?)

That Piastri tweet us extraordinary. Even if he hasn't agreed to drive for Alpine next year, I'm surprised he's announced it so publicly.

Presumably he has something else lined up but if whatever that something is falls through, he has quite spectacularly burned his bridges hasn't he?

I'm not surprised at all - and I don't blame him in the slightest for going public with it.

Announcement at 1500 from Williams. I wonder what that could be?

Albon signing for next year and beyond. Still no news on the expected Latifi replacement though.

Aston Martin need the impact from drivers who have the milage. Vettel, Alonso makes sense when you want to build the car.

Also, McClaren going all in for a new talent next to Norris, makes sense as well.

I agree with the above.

1) Daddy's boy isn't good enough to be in the team, let alone lead it's progress.

2) Danny Ric clearly doesn't like the way McClaren design a car. It would be better for him and the team if he went elsewhere.

Was browsing the F1 news and saw that honda sign for a further 2 years with red bull. I thought that some regulation changes were put on hold at the request of red bull, so they could buy time to get another engine supplier or build their own?

This just looks to me like another honda engine deal in all but name.

Yeah red bull pulled a fast one as per usual and some on here moan about Mercedes’. FIA bend over backwards for a red Bull and Horner time and time again.

What I don’t get is what’s in it for Honda, they no longer have their name on the engine and are in effect a silent partner, why extend ‘help’ for Red Bull. They wanted their own engine, let them get on with it.

Maybe the financial side of the new RedBull-Honda deal is a better package for Honda? Or the structure of the deal is better?

Plus of course the sponsorship money that they bring is all important, something that daddy's boy cannot bring himself.

Anyone else watching the formula E this morning. Some clown level events as per usual involving these good for nothing ‘all conditions’ tyres.

FormulaE just cannot be taken seriously with rules and regulations like this. There are some changes for Gen3 with might make it better.

No I've never really got into it, but honestly it's surely only a matter of time before Formula 1 is all electric?

Maybe not yet. Synthetic fuels are being pushed hard, will it ditch combustion altogether? one day maybe but it is very different right now spectacle right now.

The best race of the year in formula E is Monaco. The cars are the right size for it and you can even over take. Also on paper synthetic fuels are ‘maybe’ greener than electric (the full story for all electric cards is rarely told). I don’t think the ICE is dead just yet.
