I'm guessing they will make more of these films. Are they to be a continuation of Prey or are they just going to do the same thing in different periods of time?

I'd love an East Asian version with ninjas or Shaolin monks etc. They could get very creative. Or they could play safe and just use Prey as a template and manufacture a load of sequels but in a different setting.

Well, the end of the movie ties into Predator 2 with the pistol being the same one that Danny Glover takes as a prize, so the Predator gets that back somehow, and the credits show several ships turning up, so…

(edited only for brevity)

they've already said they're going to do sequels.

and if they make as much of a pig's ear of the sequels here as they did with the others, I won't be bothering.

The Man from Toronto

Pretty funny action comedy with Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart. Hart plays a hapless entrepreneur that is mistaken for dangerous hitman (Harrelson).

Chaos and shenanigans ensue.

I just killed my Dad

A doc summed up perfectly with the title. Pretty depressing but gripping story about the effects of domestic abuse, following the case of a 17-year-old boy in Louisiana.

Watched 'The Longest Night' (Spain) - a 6 part new series on Netflix. Plenty of action and it was entertaining enough but unfortunately was utterly unbelievable. The biggest problem was that it didn't wrap up everything at the end, and most of the questions I had are still unanswered. Now I have to wait for season 2 although, with Netflix's track record on these things, I doubt we'll ever see it.

I then started watching Keep Breathing - a miniseries about a young woman who's plane crashes in the Canada wilderness. I was expecting much better to be honest. For every minute of the survival storyline, there's about 3 minutes of flashbacks - most of which are superfluous. They had to be there though because I'm not sure they had the slightest idea on how to make the survival storyline in the slightest bit interesting. Take away all the flashbacks and you'd probably have enough material left for a single, fairly boring episode.

Watched the Gray Man and liked it. One of those films where you just sit back, take it for what it is, and enjoy. Reviews on imdb are stupidly over-critical as usual.

noted similarly the other week.

great book series, and this is like John Wick meets any Jackie Chan movie.

I enjoyed it. all action, plenty of blowing up, shooting up, beating up and I never once had to wonder about the plot !!!!!

Has anyone here watched Roadrunner on Netflix? It's a documentary about the life of Anthony Bourdain.

Wow, what an almighty f***-up this was!?

Not really surprising considering the line-up. I think I'd want to trash the place too rather than watch that garbage.

Great documentary though. :newthumb:

Started watching an Amazon show from 2014 called BOSCH about an LA detective. Just finished the first season & it's really good.

It lasted all the way up until 2021 so I'm hoping they have all 7 seasons.

someone recommended it on maybe one of the other threads. 7 series and then it goes to Bosch Legacy.

used "the usual suspects" to get mine. and I posted a couple of times about it. binged all 8 series including the newest one. they actually announced (no spoilers) a 2nd series of Bosch Legacy even before the released the first series so I'm hopeful. they're actually filming it so expect a release 2023 they said.

excellent and I endorsed the recommendation. not that that's anything to go by..

but yeah I liked it .

2 top actors from The Wire also add to it. very good cast througout.

Watched a vampire movie with Jamie Foxx called Day Shift. It was entertaining enough but at the same time instantly forgettable. So much so that I'm struggling to recall much of it already.

Finished watching the drama 'Keep Breathing' and my opinion of it has dropped further since my last review. This was difficult to get through. The only reason I watched it is because it looked like a survival drama. Unfortunately the survival element is secondary to the superfluous mess of overly sentimental flashbacks that dominate the series. Looking back over the 6 episodes, I think the survival bit probably consists of collecting a bit of water in some pots, eating some berries, and making a compass. That's it - so if you're tempted to watch this on account of the survival storyline then don't bother. The minimal survival plot actually contains some of the most absurd bits - I especially liked the bit where she was trapped under a huge boulder but thankfully managed to remove herself from it by constantly and weakly tapping at it with a small rock.

Just started watching the Korean series 'A Model Family'. I'm only two episodes in but so far it looks promising. The synopsis....

"After unwittingly stealing money from a cartel, a cash-strapped professor finds the only way to save his broken family is by working as a drug courier."

The Most Hated Man on the Internet. A doc short series - Netfilix.

A very well put together series that deals with a Revenge Porn site and its impact on one particular family. The founder plugged in to a movement that exploded in popularity at the end of the first decade of this century. It's very well put together with high production values and very good access to key participants.

The internet has been in equal message a beautiful and dreadful thing, this doc makes you wonder if democratising peoples voices via free access to a global media might be the worst days work in communications media history.

Highly recommend.

Watched "Thirteen Lives" on Prime last night - Ron Howard's film about the Thai Cave rescue of the boy's football team.

Very Ron Howard - he strings out the tension and claustrophobia really well given the audience almost certainly know the outcome (a la Apollo 13).

Spoiler alert, after the rescue the poor kids ended up being dragged kicking and screaming to the UK to watch a Man U game at Old Trafford.

Really good stuff. Colin Farrell especially good.
