Him and Corneto on the left, yes without doubt. I don't think he'd be a bad signing at all, in fact. Prefer Sosa, of course I would, but that's life, I spose

I've not seen enough of him to say... I thought he looked good at the Euros. It would be interesting to see what Misko thinks seeing as he played 32 games for Lyon last season.

Getting to that stage where the evenings proceedings are about to come to an end and when you look around the fit ones have disappeared and your now considering the leftovers

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Cresswell is done at this level and I want to upgrade on him as much as the next man
But not for the sake of it, Emerson? hard pass
A high quality LB should be the main priority at the minute

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
We need more players, so on that basis - potentially signing these 3 players is good news.
But, something has fundamentally gone wrong behind the scenes with the recruitment strategy this summer.
These players may turn out to be good signings but I don’t believe Moyes planned to have the squad in its current state at this stage.

Ashby is ready i think. I predict he will play Thursday and become out 1st choice RB going forward

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
The Belgian looks like a poundshop Lewandowski:
Assuming EVH's info is correct, then it smacks of getting cheap-ish bodies in now in order to have another go at some more expensive targets towards the end of the window. Presumably takes LB off the table for a season, but could still see a player coming in per the bids for Onana, Zielinski, Nunes and Broja if we still have targets in that £30-50m range.

Yes.... he looks very very average at the moment. Certainly doesn't look like a player that's looking to reach the next level. I've wondered if Kehrer is coming in with a long term view of replacing Coufal with him.

He will probably play on Thursday but his chances of being first choice are a little way off for now I would say.Hugh Jargon wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:10 am Ashby is ready i think. I predict he will play Thursday and become out 1st choice RB going forward

Bizarre considering weve not even asked any left backs for a dance yet just waited until closing time before going for any bird left in the club

Not good enough either imo as a right back. I appreciate he's a good defender but you need more to your game in that role.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Surely Soucek is off if we buy another 6ft 4 attacking midfielder?
The Belgian guy is 30 soon, not one for the future. Can’t see us buying him just to sit on the bench.

In all honesty, buying this guy is a far better idea than playing Soucek as an attacking midfielder (as many on here have suggested in the last few months).

On another day Soucek scores a hat trick yesterday Burnley.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:16 am In all honesty, buying this guy is a far better idea than playing Soucek as an attacking midfielder (as many on here have suggested in the last few months).

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Once Aguerd recovers I’m hoping we look at Kehrer, Zouma Aguerd and ideally Sosa as a back 4, much more pace and ability to build from the back. Full backs are critical these days, pace and passing ability are absolutely essential.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:12 am Not good enough either imo as a right back. Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
I did not realise he is the Italian left back
Looking at a whoscored comparison he looks an improvement on cresswell… not a huge jump but would certainly get in the team
Apparently had a loan bid rejected in January as well
Should also add another player with a high pass completion 87% last season

That's an extremely underwhelming list, I would hope we'd be aiming for more quality than that

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.
Anyone turning their nose up at Emerson is a little deluded I think.
An immediate improvement on Creswell.
Not 'next level' or anything but a very good player.
I would also second the calls to try Ashby on the right - Coufal hasn't looked like the player we know he can be for best part of a year now.
