Yep, that's the point I was making albeit poorly it seemsEstuary wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:16 pm Work rate? Antonio works his nuts off. At one point Brighton had a clear breakaway and Antonio ran nearly the entire length of the pitch flat out to overtake and tackle the Brighton winger. Work rate and stamina are not the issue, getting him the ball so he can threaten the oppo goal is.

You named that number of clubs and suggested a 'last minute trolley dash'.
What are you meaning to suggest by those things?

I know stats are often misleading but the stats from the match show pretty match a draw on paper, from possession, shots taken, shots on target, pass completion etc.
I can't really tell if we are just falling short at the fine margins and have been unlucky again?
I know we didn't play well to even warrant a result, but we have played dreadful and came away with points before. I'm thinking of that Hull match where the post was named man of the match.

Have you read the thread, the whole thread, and nothing but the thread ?prophet:marginal wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:22 pm You named that number of clubs and suggested a 'last minute trolley dash'.

My contention is other than another poster suggesting there were only 2 possible reasons why Moyes isn't picking his new recruits right from the off was that there was possibly a third reason
That being, if he immdiately left out , for example, Cresswell and Antonio, they may be disgruntled, believing their 1st team opportunities here were now up, and we may find ourselves having to ward off advances from other clubs for their services.
By not dropping them immediately he retains their goodwill for August, when they feel threatened, perhaps, but not sufficently to instruct their agents to find them a new club.
Sept 1st is a new ball game, and by January they are 6 months older, and it's a different ball game.
The bigger the credible squad, the harder it is to keep them all happy.

I did read it.
You said 'defo' be subject to bids.
I read it again.
You now say 'may attract bids'.
In half an hour, I still won't understand what you were in fact driving at.
hence the questions...

Doesn't matter what terms you used, both players would be seen as poachable during the TW if they were not starting, they're at an age when they won't want to sit on the bench and neither is earning top line wages.the pink palermo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:36 pm Can you quote me where I said "defo" please, I've looked and cant find it ..........
Makes perfect sense to anyone willing to listen to reasoned debate.

I'm just trying to establish the terms of what he said. He's known me for long enough to know I am not being unreasonable.

So, yes defo, either of those players, if they signalled they wanted out this window, imo, would attravt bids.
Cresswells set piece delivery buys goals, Antoios physique occupies multiple defenders, creating space for others.
Both valuable to any club likely to be in the bottom half come April.

I mentioned it at the time. He made the tackle beside our left corner flag. Think about it for a second. Our centre forward ran practically the length of the pitch to made a tackle next to the corner flag, and still got there before our left back.Estuary wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:16 pm Work rate? That’s great he tracked back and covered our left back
Still didn’t have an impact against their defence…
I’m not doubting his worth ethic he puts in a shift every 60 mins… but he seems to have lost a yard of pace which means he is easier for opposition defenders to control
