Emu
I miss unbounded silliness like this.
The set up, the jump, the look of embarrassment, the readjustment of clothing... Chaplin couldn't have done it better.

At one stage in my life, that bird and its facial expressions were my favourite things in the whole world.

A mate sent me that a few days ago. I haven't stopped watching it since.
How Rod didn't cripple himself I'll never know - it's clearly not a "prop" freezer!

Re: Emu
The missus had an emu puppet at her mums house which we dug out when the kids were younger - early 2000s. They used to love it, as it could get away with far more than they could!!!

That time that b*stard Emu snuck up on his roof & deliberately turned the tv aerial the wrong way round?...dasnutnock3 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 12:38 pm Turned pretty dark in the end, though, eh, when Emu finally got the job done.

Re: Emu
I remember at some Silver Jubilee celebrations (1977?) at my nans caravan in Yalding & Emu grabbed my mums arse, the dirty b*stard.
Another funny thing about that video is that frozen food was still a relative novelty. It's what some whole families survive on nowadays

Re: Emu
Rod Hull (and Emu) bought the historic, but at the time, dilapidated, Restoration House in Rochester, spent fortunes renovating it and went bust in the process I think
Poor bugger then fell of the roof of his bungalow when adjusting his tv aerial as mentioned above

Re: Emu
The genius of Half Man Half Biscuit back in the day
Rod Hull Is Alive – Why?
A doyen of topiary once told me
That one day he would like to grow a maze
It seemed to be quite logical
That this should be his wish
And with that, we both went our separate ways
They said you died at seven
Due to something in your head
I asked the Sister why
It wasn’t someone else instead
Tonight I’ll cry myself a bath of tears and ask the world,
“Why is Rod Hull alive – and getting paid as well?”
Heard a Palace Spokesman mention Sarah
Said she’d known the groins of Jacques Laffite
She’s well prepared to be a standard bearer
As pure as unproverbial driven sleet
Halfway up the Wrekin with an empty flask of tea
A fog descends and takes away my visibility
Yet in this Helen Keller state I’d still quite like to know
“Why is Rod Hull alive – and getting paid as well?”
And I wonder if they’ll bring back National Service and the birch
And I wonder but I doubt if they will ever bring back the Watney Cup

Re: Emu
I wonder if there was only one Emu puppet, or if there were a bunch of them? Seems like quite a hard life.
