Safe to say this German journalist on the ground is sceptical of the idea anything major is happening.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:25 pm If, and its a big If, this is true, then I think this is a case of better the devil you know.
Stability, someone who rattles his sabres but wants good relationships. Was giving Putin a bit of stick too I think.

Mobilisation going well then
Worrying story coming out about a shooting at a school in Russia. 6 dead plus the shooter. Already a couple of headlines from Russian press about the guy having "nazi insignia" tattooed on him. Popping the old conspiracy hat on for a second, chances of this being used to scare people into believing the Ukrainian nazis are coming for your kids on home soil?

They’ve used the Russian, Ukrainian and Iranian flags. Which country do you not recognise Hummer?

Seems the opportunity hasn't been pounced on. Russian media not making much play of the alleged far right stuff and just painting him as disgruntled former student.

Re: Russian invasion of Ukraine
Had a quick look today and struggled to find any criticism of "fighting age men" fleeing Russia for Europe and Central Asia. Coverage is actually quite positive and understanding of them looking for safety and leaving women and kids behind.

I have mixed feelings about Edward Snowden.
He revealed US Govt secrets, but they were about how the US Government spied on its own citizens.
They're still doing it.
Land of the free it aint.

BBC News reporting that Russian annexation of occupied Ukrainian regions is imminent. They also have comments from occupants that people were threatened with losing their jobs if they dont vote yes.
A resident in the occupied town of Enerhodar, in the Zaporizhzhia region, said electoral officials and two armed soldiers were going door to door, to force people to vote.
The resident, who is not being identified for security reasons, said: “If people don’t respond, they put a mark. Then they return to the same address… It’s very scary.”
According to the resident, people are being threatened with losing their jobs if they do not take part in the process.
“There’s no chance to avoid voting. Or to vote no. They give you ballots, and you should vote ‘Yes’. Otherwise, you’ll lose your job. That’s the question.”

Russia accused of sabotaging Nord Stream pipeline
Should help to force Europe's hand looking for alternative supplies.Ukraine has accused Russia of causing leaks in two major gas pipelines to Europe in what it described as a "terrorist attack".
Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhaylo Podolyak said the damage to Nord Stream 1 and 2 was "an act of aggression" towards the EU.
He added that Russia wanted to cause pre-winter panic and urged the EU to increase military support for Ukraine.
Seismologists reported underwater blasts before the leaks emerged.
"There is no doubt that these were explosions," said Bjorn Lund of Sweden's National Seismology Centre, as quoted by local media.
The operators of Nord Stream 2 warned of a loss of pressure in the pipeline on Monday afternoon. That led to a warning from Danish authorities that ships should avoid the area near the island of Bornholm.
The operator of Nord Stream 1 said the undersea lines had simultaneously sustained "unprecedented" damage in one day.
Denmark's Defence Command has released footage of the leaks which shows bubbles at the surface of the Baltic Sea near the island.
The largest patch of sea disturbance is 1km (0.6 miles) in diameter, it says.

Looks legit...
In the meantime looks like Putin is now sending subs to blow up pipelines as well.

The Russians have sabotaged this pipeline but didn't they switch it off a few weeks ago?

There has been no gas running through NS1 for a while.Denbighammer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 8:47 pm The Russians have sabotaged this pipeline but didn't they switch it off a few weeks ago?
What is more significant is the threat of sabotage to energy installations throughout Europe.
I suspect this is Putin attempting to keep the gas price high and Europe on its knees as a result as he is running out of ways to do this.

Russia to open recruitment centre at Georgian border
Russia is to open an army enlisting centre on the border with Georgia, where massive queues have formed as Russian men try to flee the country to avoid being sent to fight in Ukraine.
Officers at the Verkhniy Lars crossing will be tasked with serving summons to "citizens of the mobilisation age", the authorities say.
Recent satellite images have shown queues going for miles from Russia.

Lots of new recruits now available.
I'm sure tomos would be hailing the democracy in action.

When people who rig these election come up with such results, do they actually think that anyone actually believes them?
