Me and Limmy respectfully disagree.Up the Junction wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 5:42 pm If by "raise" you mean take out a shovel and dig several metres down into the dark, murky Scandinavian soil, then you have a point.
I mean, you could've thrown up Hunting High Or Low or even something like I've been Losing You which would've been palatable, at least. But this is a dirge, Cockers, especially by Morten Torten Horten Harket's high standards.

From 1983, Underworld before they were Underworld. This reached number 59 in the UK chart, but with retrospect should have been a worldwide number one.

Re: Glorious Pop...
This was released in 1984, and I remember taping it off Radio One onto a TDK C90. I assumed it got into the top 30 at least, so looked in my trusty Guinness Book of Hit Singles, but it isn't listed. Surely shome mishtake?
No, apparently it only reached number 87. Proof, if it's needed, that the world hasn't just gone mad since Trump got elected, it's always been mad.

The other thing I seem to remember about them was that they used some weird symbol instead of the word Freur - which may well have predated Prince doing it.

Blimey, that’s a rave from the grave! Loved that song back in the day but have totally forgotten about it until now, so cheers for that. I could imagine a remix of that appearing on an Underworld album.southbrishammer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 10:11 pm From 1983, Underworld before they were Underworld. Re: Glorious Pop...
Ricky Gervais tried to be a pop star in 1983. He didn't succeed, but this wasn't a bad effort:

This one as well...I pretty much learnt it on guitar in about 5 minutes as its just simple open chords. Great song.Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 7:30 am A more recent addition to the genre, an instant classic.

Re: Glorious Pop...
Don't think I've ever heard it before, but this is basically a rip-off of Laura Branigan's Self Control, which came out in 1984.

Re: Glorious Pop...
This tune features in the very first episode of Spongebob, which my son has been watching a lot recently, so it's got stuck in my head.
Warning: it may give you nightmares.
