2 episodes in of BBCs latest 4 parter INSIDE MAN. . Not saying much more at this stage other than an unusual storyline delivered very well by a cast led by David Tennant and Stanley Tucci. Very good so far.
Don't think it's available 'up front' on iplayer so last two next week.Looking forward to it.

Brokenwood Mysteries on the Drama Channel.

Series 8 of the Kiwi version of Midsummer Murders is airing and it is bang in form. Much like Midsummer it has silly murders in a quaint setting investigated by a likeable but quirky police team. Well worth watching if you like this sort of thing.

An excellent documentary about the late Sidney Poitier. Hadn't registered just how pioneering he was, nor was I aware he was considered (for a time, at least) an "Uncle Tom" by the more militant element of his community.

Excellent wasn't it, he really was a trail blazer. Look up Denzels acceptance speech for his Oscar, same night SP got an award, very touching and class from Denzel.

Once Upon A Time In... Hollywood (2019). Based (loosely) around the events of the Manson Family murders, this slow burner kicks into life in brutal fashion in the final act - as Tarantino's pictures always do. Looks (and sounds) beautiful. Star-studded cast in which DiCaprio and Pitt both shine. Also features Austin 'Elvis' Butler.

I enjoyed once upon a time more on the 2nd viewing. First time I sat down expecting a normal QT film, and it wasn't, well, not until right near the end which was brilliant!

Brad Pitt & Leo DC have made some great films.

This England

New drama on Sky Atlantic about the governments' handling of the pandemic. Kenneth Branagh plays Boris rather well. Ep1 begins with him winning the election in December 2019 right up to the eve of lockdown.

Its billed as 'partially satirical'. Not sure about that, but it is pretty good.

Taskmaster

Always enjoyable although I find none of the contestants in more recent series to be as ingenious as the early ones.

Have you noticed that Charles' head on the new coins they are minting looks exactly like the Greg Davies trophy in Taskmaster?

Bullet Train- it’s stupid, violent and I enjoyed it, has a Guy Richie vibe. Also unexpected bubbles and West Ham.

I’m 5 out of the 6 episodes through this. It’s harrowing.

Maybe ‘too soon’ after covid - I’m sure it will be for anybody who lost somebody or worked in the NHS or care homes - but equally quite an incredible and important look back through what a crazy time that we lived through, and the realness of it with the dramatisation of it.

Some of the resemblance’s are unbelievable - Matt Hancock in particular.

One of my favourite shows. Enjoyed the first episode of this series with some good tasks.

The Guardian's Lucy Mangan didn't much like it - too nice on Boris apparently. Who'd a thunk it?

Fred Ward may not have been an all-time great actor but every film he was in was better for him being in it. Tremors, Remo, Escape From Alcatraz, The Right Stuff, Silkwood… always brought his A game.
