Re: The Energy Crisis
I’m surprised it has taken everyone so long to wake up to this. Drax have been moving biomass from far flung places to the UK for probably 15 years.

Re: The Energy Crisis
Same. I could have sworn this had been a scandal already. I know the eco press types have been writing about it for close to a decade.

Re: The Energy Crisis
Not sure it's a big scandal, I watched a documentary on process of bringing Canadian woodchip to the UK by boat and taking it on the train To Drax.

Re: The Energy Crisis
Regardless of whatever the Government says with regards applying a windfall tax, less the investment tax relief, on the major energy companies, the Labour party should immediately announce it will apply a retrospective levy on those companies when in Government.
Seriously, Truss is bonkers missing such an open goal.

Re: The Energy Crisis
There are lots of ifs/buts/maybes but the outlook may not be quite so horrific. Lots can change but Russia continues to supply gas via Ukraine into Slovakia. There is a fair chance of price dropping in coming weeks.
Will try and add more at some point when I have time to put something coherent together.

Re: The Energy Crisis
well its taken 8 months but the battery is here
ship wallpaper hd download
powercut simulated 3 times.. first time went dark for 10 seconds, second 2 times nothing
set up to charge overnight and I think off solar, getting used to the app
tomorrow morning will tell when I wake up to a full battery or not

Re: The Energy Crisis
Can we divert some of those weapons being sent to Ukraine to these lads please
Re: The Energy Crisis
Cheaper energy as it is programmed to charge on the cheap EV rate , savings worked out but won't bore people with it
Stores excess solar in summer so instead of selling for 4p (have to be that due to EV tariff can't go higher) I can use it to just use my solar in summer
Then it also has ups back up so if powercut and power on the battery I go into island mode and can keep the lights, router etc running

Re: The Energy Crisis
Visions of you shouting at a volleyball.
Hope this all works as planned. Would like to get something similar set up one day.
Re: The Energy Crisis
It's working well thus far..came online 11am delivered with 20% battery ( worth 1 million quid these days!) And I'm down to 12% now but I've added 2kw to that aswell in solar .. so since 11 I've not touched the gridSammyLeeWasOffside wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 4:19 pm Visions of you shouting at a volleyball.

Idea is 0630 tomorrow start with 100% after the 5.5p rate fills it up.. solar is used first but anything solar can't do battery covers and if too much solar it back fills the battery
8 months waiting and just got final bill quite a bit less than I thought so nice bonus for the wife to use for Christmas

Re: The Energy Crisis
What a bunch of tossers. Good news for Putin and once again probably higher petrol costs.Danny's Dyer Acting wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 3:23 pm Can we divert some of those weapons being sent to Ukraine to these lads
Good old Saudi Arabia.
Re: The Energy Crisis

I mean, OPEC+ is the likes of Russia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia - I'm not sure giving them (more) weapons is a good idea!Danny's Dyer Acting wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 3:23 pm Can we divert some of those weapons being sent to Ukraine to these lads please
I was looking at electric cars the other day and bugger me they're expensive. My current petrol one is on hire purchase until 2026. I'd like the one after it to be electric, or hybrid at least, but unless the tech improves and the cost comes down significantly I can't see it right now.
Anyway, might run out and grab a tank at the 155.9 it is near me today. Just in case.
Re: The Energy Crisis
Quick update from the first night.
Programming worked perfectly.
01:30 it fired up and charged at the night rate (5.5p a kw)
06:00 battery was full, however the heat pump tumble still on but it didnt take from battery as it knew day rate kicks in at 06:30 and its cheaper to use grid..
06:30 it took over the powering of the house
08:00 now, quick snap shot of the house.. 0.4kw demand, 0.8kw being produced by the solar so 0.4kw to house and 0.4kw being diverted to the battery which is at 92%
thats me set up for winter , wont play with the settings again until summer when Ill press it into self consumption mode and use as much solar as possible where it learns how much you produce in a day and keeps that available for the battery to charge up from

Re: The Energy Crisis
It's funny, when oil prices drop we don't see a sudden, corresponding drop in the price of petrol, yet when oil prices are expected to rise, suddenly we've got the self fulfilling prophecy being laid out in the press.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 7:31 pm BBC News - Petrol price rise warning after Opec oil output cut

Re: The Energy Crisis
Can anyone here with an electric car answer the following?
How much does it cost to fully charge your car at home compared to filling a car with petrol?
How much does it cost to fully charge your car at home compared to filling a car with petrol?
Re: The Energy Crisis
a lot of variables , I have a 45kw usable battery
so 45kw to charge on the night rate wouldnt work it would only put in 35kw due to mine being 5 hour cheap window so 10kw from normal window
the cheap window from feb is 8.25p for 5 hours and 40p the rest of the hours
so from empty to 100% would be £7
however I am never down that low and my charge always fits in my 5 hour window so even a max of 35kw would cost £2.89
to put in more real world terms I do 50 miles a day from havering to north london every day. on the cheap rate it works out about £1.25 - £1.50 a day in charge
in summery
charge at home very cheap
charge away from home not cheap
