Add that to the X million disillusioned voters and you get a sad reflection of the current state of politics in the UK.

You see ,'Supermac' was to the left of the Tory party, saw too much strife in the North East of England during the days of The Great Depression, not to be heavily influenced by it and always used the man in the street's language. The Tory party, needs a few more like him
Surely that was true of all the parties years ago (post wars..?).

Many had held jobs before getting into politics, now they just seem to have no 'real life' experience, or very little it seems and are just in it to milk the system.

It turns out that actions have consequences.
Introduction: Fitch cuts outlook for UK rating to 'negative' from 'stable'
Good morning, and welcome to our rolling coverage of business, the world economy and the financial markets.

A second rating agency has threatened to downgrade the UK’s credit rating, warning that the unfunded tax cuts in Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget will drive up borrowing.

Fitch has cut the outlook on the UK’s AA- investment grade credit rating, to Negative from Stable, following a similar move from S&P.

Fitch warned that the “large and unfunded fiscal package” could lead to a significant increase in the government’s deficits over the medium term, and undermine the previous government’s fiscal consolidation strategy.

Nadine Dorries accuses Truss of ‘lurching to the right’. Hmm. :chin:

Yep, saw that. Two things to note about that: if Nadine Dorries thinks you’re lurching to the right then you absolutely must be lurching to the right. Secondly, if even Dorries can see that lurching (even more) to the right is not the right thing to do and / or electorally toxic, and Truss and Kwarteng can’t see that, then even Nadine Dorries is more in touch with reality than they are, and that’s not a good place for them to be.

Isn't Dorries just getting pissy because she thinks Boris should still be in charge and some of her policies are being dropped though?

It's just occurred to me: does yesterday's speech mean that Truss has found the Magic Pie Tree?

If so, I'm in!

Pretty much but when Mad Nad is right and Dizzy Lizzy can’t even see it, shows what a mess they’re in. Neither of them should ever have made it to the top level of anything more than a jumble sale committee.

I'd take whatever Nadine Dorries says with an even bigger pinch of salt than is usually required here. She's clearly not happy that her favourite scarecrow got ousted. Dorres did far more "right wing" stuff in her time as minster for TV during her war on the BBC and Ch4 than Truss has likely got planned.

Kwarteng nearly wiped out thousands (if not millions) of people's pensions in one morning with his incompetence and arrogance.

How is this twerp still in a job?

I spoke to a guy that is a trustee of a pension scheme of a large investment bank. Truss opening her mouth forced his bank to put down £1.5bn in collateral.

That is for a single scheme of a single employer.

These people are irresponsible and stupid. f*** them.

He could have added Brexit to that list of causes, if the cowed BBC weren’t allergic to the word nowadays.

This is how close Truss’s and Kwarteng’s purist, ideological idiocy came to ruining the futures of another huge section of society …
