It's funny, when oil prices drop we don't see a sudden, corresponding drop in the price of petrol, yet when oil prices are expected to rise, suddenly we've got the self fulfilling prophecy being laid out in the press.

in the current market yes because the pound is very weak against the dollar so it probably is the equivalent of 1.30

I think it is cheaper than £1.90.

It's almost like prices are down, your currency is weak and refining margins are higher. Russian supplies have been cut, so without some big changes, you aren't going to get to £1.30, that isn't because you are being ripped off, it's because the world has changed.

Based on https://www.confused.com/petrol-prices the most expensive (petrol) price in the UK at the moment is 194.9p, the lowest 148.9p, and the average 162.9p.

I have a weird situation as I live equidistant from two garages - a Jet and an Esso. They are in direct competition with each other, so when one has brought their prices down over the past couple of months the other has followed suit within a day or two. They currently are 155.9p (Jet) and 156.9p (Esso), so basically there's about 40p difference to fill up at one than the other.

Weirdly, not five minutes drive away is another petrol station that's a Tesco one. They have never matched these two garages and always been higher, and as recently as last week were at 163.9p. I think they're now at 158.9p, so coming into line, but I was surprised to see that a supermarket petrol station wasn't cheapest.

Right so when I ordered my system I thought oh if I'm doing it get the one that can island the house just incase those annoying now and again power cuts. Might aswell

Turns out then ‘green crap’ they ditched wouldn’t have been crap after all.

Not that most of us need encouragement to do this, but that they are not organising advertising/ information campaigns to educate/ influence those who do still need to be nudged along in cutting their usage is almost inexplicable.

Almost.

Of course it does makes sense to not encourage people to cut usage if that incurred usage helps companies you suck up to and protect, to maximise their profits. Short termism of course but that’s the norm isn’t it?

even more reason public service announcements to advise people to use less if they can and load shift are vital.
