Always find it a shame that Rashid never got integrated into the test side. I think he's a superb bowler.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
Maybe one day we will find out, but with all the racism stuff at Yorkshire and a Root being a Yorkshire player you have to wonder if there is some more to this.. Either way Root just didn't trust and nurture Rashid, Morgan (a much better man manager and captain) did.
But I agree, England Test side loss.
Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
There's a hell of a lot difference between 4 or 10 overs against batters who have to score at a rate, with 4 inside 30 metres than a test match where you can be just milked.wolf359 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 4:24 pm Maybe one day we will find out, but with all the racism stuff at Yorkshire and a Root being a Yorkshire player you have to wonder if there is some more to this.. Prodigious spinners like Warne & Murulitharun are a world apart

Indeed there is, it might just be that Rashid is just not up to the longer form and there is nothing sinister about it. He did seem a bit mentally fragile in his younger days in the longer format. Just a shame we cannot see a more mature Rashid try the Test arena, but as good as he is, he is not Warne or Murli.

I just think he's not good enough to bowl long spells and not get carted around the park.
And even if he did ever get recalled then I fear we'd lose him from our white ball teams as playing all forms would ruin him.
Even Stokes has had to quit the 50 over format.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
Unbelievable to see us progress as we have in white ball cricket and there was no thought of today after the Ireland result.
Curran was unbelievable all series and delivered something so special with the ball today. Rashid is so good to watch when he’s on it like he was today - he’s been unlucky with not getting many wickets but his control has helped us win games too. Buttler has been a superb leader and the future remains very bright for us with him.
Then Sir Ben Stokes - well at least the knighthood has to come soon. Does any other player come close to his ability to perform under extreme pressure. A role model of how to bounce back from adversity and difficult times.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
It's definitely too late for him now. Just when you consider some of the spinners we've tried out in the last 5 years who've been woeful its a shame he never worked out at test level.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 8:24 pm I just think he's not good enough to bowl long spells and not get carted around the park.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
Didn’t Rashid rule himself out of playing Test cricket due to his dodgy shoulder? Think he said bowling for long periods over the course of 4-5 days was too much for him.
Brilliant yesterday, shame I had to go out and didn’t see our innings but had TMS on and was following every ball. Fortunate that Afridi got injured and didn’t bowl his quota as he can be dangerous and take key wickets.
Stokes is an absolute hero, never lets us down in the big games.
Kings of white ball cricket!

England are the first team to be reigning champions simultaneously in both formats of white ball cricket.

Aussie women did it before. Current champs in both formats (and both times coached by Matthew Mott).

Wasnt it Trevor Bayliss that won in 2019?Vic_Watson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 10:51 pm Aussie women did it before. Current champs in both formats (and both times coached by Matthew Mott).

Talking about the Aussie women, eggy. Mott now holds 3 of the 4 cricket world cups.

Couldn't watch the game on Sunday and couldn't persuade the guvnor to watch the highlights, so just watched them now.
Brilliant from Rashid, Curran and Stokes
Superb performance over the tournament from the team, makes you wonder what happened against Ireland

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
Rain. Another few balls and we would have won on DLS. Remember: we were also behind Pakistan on DLS during the final. Had it rained then, we'd have lost.
