He saw off Mervyn day, Marc Rieper and Shaka Hislop.Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 10:26 am My first thought here is how the heck did Berkovic make it through given the calibre of some of those that didn’t make it? Must have had a soft group

Couldnt decide between Dec and Phil. Flip of a coin. Dec heads. Phil tails. Dec gets it.
Funny feeling i'll be doing lots of coin flips as this goes on. Boy, we've had some top players down through the years

Absolutely right SH, I was only making that point for the benefit of choosing between Phil and Dec. Dec has conducted himself very well and always gives 100% for the team. I’ve got no axe to grind with himS-H wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:40 am Thing is, Dec is an elite level English player, they don't come around often, so unless he was already at one of the very top/richest clubs, he was always going to leave, that's just the reality of where we are as a club, I personally think he's acted very professionally and respectfully towards the club, just knuckled down and concentrated on his football.
Would have been easy for him to push for a move, whilst seeing those around him at international level win trophies, and compete in the Champions League.
When he does eventually leave, I think (Hope) he goes with the majority of the fanbase's blessing.

Oh no, It never came across that you had an axe to grind, APD, not at all, I was just making a case for the Rice voters.Alan Pardew's Dad wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:33 pm Absolutely right SH, I was only making that point for the benefit of choosing between Phil and Dec. Phil Parkes is the only player to have played in excess of 300 matches for two different English league clubs.

My vote has just evened it up. I voted for Parkes. I love Dec, but Parkes is the best goalkeeper we have ever had and deserves the top spot IMO.
Maybe if young Declan came out and declared his undying loyalty to the club, and signed a 10 year contract, I might change my mind.

And I've just swung it in the big man's favour, as far as I'm concerned this group is an easy choice.

It should also be said that of these it’s only Ludo who had a proper song and it remains one of the best ones

Has the big man turned it round?
70 votes was about par for the first round, but the boss's Twitter push might have changed all that now.

I never knew that. Thanks WHLSWestHamLyallStyle wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 2:42 pm Phil Parkes is the only player to have played in excess of 300 matches for two different English league clubs.
Wow, this last 32 is going to be horrendously hard to make choices isn’t it? Loved all four. Miklosko is just a legend to me. Rice the finest player to come through the ranks this century by a country mile. But I can’t look past Phil. I’ll never forget my mate calling me and saying who do you think Parkes has signed for as it had just been an ITV 5.45 news headline that he’d signed for someone. They didn’t say who though - the teasers. Liverpool, Man Utd we mused and then … just dis-belief and delirium.

Parkes for me too. I had a soft spot for Berkovic though. Loved his passing. Sliderule stuff. Defnitely one of the top passers we have ever had and we have had a fair few quality passers. Could do with a couple now.

So i thought Parkes had won however turns out these polls are on KUMB's facebook and twitter where Rice has won easily.
