Re: Boxing thread
John 'The Gorilla' Ryder, who picked up the interim WBO super middle belt on Saturday could be next in line to win the Canelo lottery now that his Gingerness has decided he's coming back in May.
Hearn talking about matching them at the Emirates in May. If it happens, it should be an entertaining night and a chance for people to see a modern great.
Chuffed for Ryder too. That's between 5 & 10 million for him to retire on. Not bad for someone who looked domestic level early on.

Gorman is done, isn’t he? What's left for him? Fighting the likes of Dave Allen and Kash Ali?

He'll come back. He's still young.

Re: Boxing thread
If that fight does come off it'll be the same day we play Man Utd at home. If I can score a ticket it would be worth coming back for. See the new stadium then watch the fight.

Regis Prograis, who narrowly lost to Josh Taylor 3 years ago, won the vacant belt on Saturday night only for his $1,000,000 cheque to bounce afterwards.

Ah. Boxing continues to disappoint outside the ring.Shabu wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 8:52 pm Regis Prograis, who narrowly lost to Josh Taylor 3 years ago, won the vacant belt on Saturday night only for his $1,000,000 cheque to bounce afterwards.

Re: Boxing thread
Tyson Fury weighed in at just under 269 pounds which is lighter than he was for the 2nd & 3rd Wilder fights but a little heavier than he was for Whyte.
Chisora weighed in at 260 which is a little heavier than he was last time out for Pulev last time out.
Their weights suggest more of a slugging match than a boxing match.

Re: Boxing thread
That Kelly performance tonight was up there with the best I’ve seen all year. Stunning and brilliant to watch. Doubted him after his loss but hopefully he’s turned a corner.
Good stoppage by Arthur too in the earlier fight

Re: Boxing thread
So tonight we have Fury vs Chisora.. think most can predict the outcome, thought with heavyweight boxing you never know, one punch can be decisive. I expect fury to dance around and then finish it somewhere around the middle of the fight.
On the undercard Dubois is back in action against Lerena. Lerena isn’t a pushover but isn’t a natural heavyweight having previously fought at cruiserweight. Suspect Dubois height advantage will pay off but not fully sold on his ability

I see he’s had a bit of back and forth with Teofimo Lopez too. Now that’s a fight I’d love to see!

Re: Boxing thread
Royston Barney-Smith, on the undercard, is worth a watch. Only 18 years old, a really strong record in the amateurs and has been working with Ben Davison for a while.
