have to agree somewhat mate with you and Elsie.

and the other poster of course. I like to watch some complicated stuff to keep me into the plot.

and then there's a time to just be entertained.

but some of it insults my intelligence. maybe because I'm not a 6 year old kid who just wants pretty pictures.

one reason I gave up on THotD and TRoP.

great to look at but nothing to keep me engrossed in the plot. it doesn't have to be very involved. just some kind of plot I can follow.

I can watch Tom and Jerry and have mindless escapism.

not a HUGE fan of the Super Hero stuff but as mentioned elsewhere I really enjoyed the Capt. America stuff. entertaining. decent, to me anyway, plot. and not TOO much CGI (of course there has to be a good bit to make this work) but once I accepted the fact that there were super heroes it wasn't too much that it got in the way.

that's just imvho.

Quite enjoyable GotG Holiday Special. Blink and you will miss it one person from The infamous Star Wars Holiday Special makes an appearance.

There's also a bit where it most likely will be a part of GoTG part 3.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny but you had to have seen the SW holiday special to get the joke. My kids were a little baffled by it so I showed them the SW’s special afterward, which elicited a big, “Oooooh, I get it.”

I guess I must have blinked. I didn’t see the person from the SW special. Who was it?

Watched it yesterday and I didn’t realise that person was in it as I hadn’t seen the trailer.

Whacky and fun, Marvel should explore specials like that a bit more.

Ok, if we're not doing spoilers, which scene was the character in? I don't want to rewatch the whole thing.

In lieu of having anywhere better to put this, here's the trailer for Cocaine Bear:

I just put it on 'return to cinema' thread for the same reason. Always thought a trailers thread would be a good shout, but didn't think anyone would pot on it, which I suppose means it wouldn't have been a good shout.

Not much happening in the way of films / TV coming out, but some various bits of news that you may or may not have seen:

At DC/Warners
- Wonder Woman 3 by Patty Jenkins has been canned
- Henry Cavill is out as Superman
- Black Adam 2 is unlikely to every happen, Johnson seems to have pissed off everyone at W/DC in trying to hype Black Adam and Cavill/Superman

At Sony
Films planned allegedly include
- Kraven
- Madame Web
- Hypno Hustler (a character that would struggle to make Z-list), featuring Donald Glover.
Basically, the usual "WTF are they thinking?" selection that you'd expect from Sony

DC sound like they are scrapping everything they have made to date, except the James Gunn stuff, and starting again. They are a complete mess.

Does anyone want to see a new Superman or even care now? Will we get yet another Batman. They are releasing Shazam 2 but looks as though it will have no relevance in the future as Black Adam is over by the sound of it.

I’ll stick with Marvel for now, although phase 4 was all over the place and not much tide up. Hopefully phase 5 will be better, there was always going to be a hiccup somewhere for them.

As for Sony, they seem to be the kid that people keep away from as he pees himself, doesn’t care much and keeps trying to be your friend.

I'm really put off by the term 'phase' when it comes to describing these films.

Into the Spiderverse two early next year from Sony. It got mention in another thread but first instalment was top notch and better than the current Spider-Man films.

Interesting developments at DC / Warner.

It appears they're heading up James Gunn to be their Kevin Feige. - That's a lot of responsibility.

It looks like Batman & Joker sequels are the given for now.

I'm pretty ambivalent about Gunn - loved GotG, liked Peacemaker a lot, thought GotG2, Suicide Squad and GotG Xmas special were garbage.

Having said that, it's hard to imagine he couldn't improve on the completely random and largely awful stuff that W/DC have put out, up to now. Hope he does a good job - it would be good to see some interesting and well-executed films coming out of DC, for a change.

If you're one of the people waiting for the 2nd half of The Nevers to arrive, I'd advise you to stop holding yourt breath, as HBO has canned it.
OTOH. there's some chance it may turn up on some other service, eventually, as I believe filming has actually concluded on episides 7-12.

That's a weird story - it's coming out in dribs abd drabs, but it sounds so far like he ran over his own legs with a snow plough. Hard to picture how you do that
