No, normal three bed semi with a brand new boiler (fitted this June) .. Windows are rather old but double glazed, was just Baltic here this morning and the house has very cold, no heating on for over 48 hours.

To be honest I am considering returning to the oil heater in one room when it is just me home - worked last year when I didn't have central heating.

Saying that I only pay £120 a month and my 6 month bill (May-mid Nov) was a shade over £550 so I am a 'low' user compared to many

btw. it got to 16 at 11:05, it is 4 degrees outside currently.

Looks like the gas usage will be through the roof for the foreseeable.
Turning cold next week but will continue even colder. Sleet/snow starting to show on the weather app on my phone for Essex starting next Wednesday.
Having a look on a weather forum and the people that post on there seem to be a tad excited at what is coming up regards to cold weather and snow. Weather changes easily but the signs are showing that very cold weather cold be here for some time.

3 showers a day? :shocker:
So that must be 3 sets of undercrackers and socks and possibly 3 tops, that’s insane.

Surely they could shower at the gym, these places have them don't they?

I live in an 80's built house which has its drawbacks (they all look the bloody same).
On the plus side I woke up this morning and the temperature outside was 5c, indoors the temp was 16.5c and haven't had any heating on since yesterday evening.
I guess it's a well insulated house.

I woke up in the night with heartburn. Thatd be the buffalo wings at the brewdog pub. Anyway, I came downstairs at 3am for a glass of milk and sat on the sofa and fell asleep. I woke up at 5 when the boiler came on absolutely ****ing freezing. Could not for the life of me get warm again in bed. Ive had the heating blasting for 2 hours solid now. The house is toasty as f***.

Im just waiting for Mrs Sendo to come home now and moan how hot it is and open all the windows.

Mid 70’s mine. New windows would help without a doubt. It does usually keep temperature quite well but in recent days it got much cold. Was 11 this morning but I’ve not put heating on. Gone gym instead. Doesn’t help it’s (mainly) only me and I’m at work/out 4-5 days a week. Got three days leave next week looking at the forecast going to spend them out I think.

Because it's not sub zero, it's just been on a couple of times in the evening. Certainly noticed the difference in the smart meter. Looking set to be much colder next week so time for the floodgates to open.

Overall I ****ing hate winter. People at work saying it lovely to snuggle up and wear big jumpers etc. f*** off. What nonsense. What is better than spending all your time indoors in shorts and a T shirt, windows open while it's still light outside at 9.30.

Roll on March.

Unless it's cold rainwater collected in a bucket with holes in, i'd be putting a stop to that nonsense.

The heating (set to 16) has been on for over 3 hours this morning and it is only 13 degrees. It will take until lunch time to get it to a 'warm' 16 at this rate.
Turn it to 21° and then back down when it hits 16°

Trying to trick the boiler? Give it a challenge so it puts in a bit of effort to get to 21.

Yep they both do it as "it wakes me up",

I said wait until you've got your own place and your paying, you'll go straight to the gym and have a shower at the gym after.

Two degrees (according to the sensor on the side of my house) at 2pm. Working from home used to be a good idea but having the heating on most of the day (or sitting in thermals, woolly hat and finger less gloves whilst trying to work) means I think I'd rather go into the office and pay for the petrol. At least my office is warm, free food and drink as well.

Next week will be even colder, forecast showing some days where it won't go above freezing! Monday -5... and a chance of snow.

With the bills being the way they are I've never paid so much attention to the heating and weather as this year.

I've stopped thinking about it.

If it's cold, and the house needs heating, it's getting heated.

We'll have to manage.

I'm sort of at this point. I was out of the house from 6:30am-9:30pm yesterday looked at my Nest report and the heating was still on for almost 4 hours. It was set at 9 when I wasn't home and 16 when I was in.. I can't do much lower than that, it is not live-able otherwise.

We've got used to making sure the heating goes off when we cook dinner, otherwise the heating + oven/hobs etc makes the house too hot, and we both hate sleeping in a stuffy bedroom. However it was cold last night, so we had the electric heater on in the living room in the evening for a bit. Sendo Jr #3s room subsequently dropped down to 12C by 5am. I think we'll need to have the heating on in the evening for a bit.

Yeah, that's where I am - especially now. Before this cold snap the temperature hadn't been too bad in the house, a kind of 'put another wooly on' temperature. This past 3-4 days it's gotten right parky inside and, to be honest, has reached tipping point. I'm happy enough to leave it off when I'm at home on my own working, but in the evening when the kids are back and in the morning first thing it's going on.
