He didn't go crying to Sullivan about playing right back. He expressed reservations about playing there as he didn't think he was any good and it wasn't to Sullivan. He had one bad half v Chelsea when he was rubbish but every other time he played there (and there were a few, he did not lack effort)

Considering it took Harry Kane only about a year and a half to reach the same number of PL goals as him, it is hard to disagree with you

No reason to hate him, but I don’t think it’s great behaviour.
Which assumes the club are unhappy about it. Do we know they are? Do we know he did not clear it all with them first? Let’s face it it the content is going to be no surprise to anyone in club or the dressing room.

What is more worrying to me than a few podcast comments is that on minutes played he is our leading striker for goal involvement yet is pretty universally seen as **** this season, what does that say of the rest?

Not a very good footballer , but an effective footballer.
I defo agree with your first point! Sadly, I've never, ever rated the "Lump" and argued with family to that effect. Well, well, and thrice well overrated, and speaks volumes that the lump is our top prem scorer. Such a shame he didn't spend half as much time pratising his finishing as he did his pathetic celelebration. Snowman crashes, carpet lashes, cardboard cut outs and not to mention, Row Z lashes! Won't be missed by me but fair play to any fans of his. :crest: :scarfer:

I hope Antonio doesn't read this site.

If he does it wouldn't surprise me if one or two of you get run over by a giant snowman in a Lamborghini.

Kludgehammer wrote: Thu Jan 26, 2023 5:51 pm You know what? He was right - he was not going to be a right back in million years, and Bilic was out of his mind to play him there, and utterly out of his depth when he didn't have Payet to mask his lack of nous.
Whether he was good or not in the position is a completely redundant argument.

The manager calls the shots, and I expect players to follow through on the managers instructions by making sure they put in 100% effort.

Antonio was crap in the position, everyone could see that, but he gave up on his team mates and went off crying in the media and to Sullivan.

It completely undermined Bilic.

Unfortunately, a lack of hubris is a quality lacking amongst most footballers these days. I have a little bit of sympathy for those near the end of their careers looking to maximise their final pay cheques, however those that fail to recognise the club and supporters that put them where they are (very wealthy anyway), lack any self awareness. Unfortunately, the more he opens his mouth the more I lose respect for his position. From what I have read, it is all about him and not about fighting for the club and supporters. As most posters know, I am not one to criticise players or management, but Antonio is beginning to irritate me enormously.
