Faithless is a tune, almost put No Good in from Prodigy, didn't quite make it - Same as NWA f**k Da Police, brilliant tune as well, particularly first time of hearing them. It annoys me that Eminem, as I'm not a huge fan wins my rap/hip hop moment...I just think genius.

I'm not a fan either CRS, but THAT song was just, boooom; Cracking video to that song as well.

Sounds like it was recorded on a handheld cassette machine, but that wobbly bass, followed by that guitar line, still floor me every time I play this song.

One of the first proper indie tracks I heard.

Then found that this was on an earlier e.p.

Searched high and low for their very first single, but never managed to find a copy.

Indie 7 inches! Used to own loads of them.

When this came out in 1991 it pretty much sounded like nothing I'd ever heard before, and it still feels unique to this day:

Yeah I was scratching around for a MBV song to include on my selection, but truth be told it was seeing them live for the first, sometime in 1990 that blew me away and not a single song. I simply had never, ever heard music like it, music that went through you and around you and shook you to the core.....and I couldn't name one track from their set list but know I will never ever forget it.

Could pick just about any track from that album, though it's probably "Ether" or "I found that essence rate" for me. Never heard a guitar played like that before, and I've wanted top be able to play guitar like Andy Gill ever since. One day....

Some other nominations:

Lost a lot of it's impact now, but the whole album blew me away at the time

Other Motorhead tracks of the era were awesome, but this is The One for me:

And of course, there's this, more recently:

First rock riff that reall grabbed me and cemented my interest in Rock music:

And the most important thing in the world, aged 17ish:

Not like any of the classics posted previously by others but when I heard Da Click Good Rhymes for the first time I was taken.
This was when garage was starting to get big and MC's were only ever really in clubs and radio, then this song came out and a few of the big names at the time were on it and at the time was a game changer.

I NEVER like any song the first time I hear it, including these two but once they'd seeped through... from two desert island albums for me.
Both 43 years old this year...

I listen to a lot of Rock music in my time. The one song that for me changed rock music and still pumps me up

Nirvana’s Teen Spirit

Here’s an excellent breakdown of the song on YouTube

Really interesting that some of you picked MBV, cos it'd be this track for me.
