Star Trek 4 seems to have been killed, again. Lost the director and now pulled from the release schedule.
In somewhat more positive news, there's a pretty low-key teaser for the new series of Strange New Worlds out

Trailer for Star Trek Picard series 3: Codgers In Space
I'm a big fan of Trek, but not an obsessive, so I don't recognise the references in this - no idea who the woman in the spiky ship is, or who/what the Moriarty character is at the end

Did not expect to see Moriarty pop up. That has peaked my interest.Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 8:55 am Trailer for Star Trek Picard series 3: Codgers In Space

The Moriarty-looking fellow at the end is literally Moriarty. He was the chief antagonist in a couple of those frequent and, imho, mostly irritating holodeck episodes of TNG.Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 8:55 am no idea who the woman in the spiky ship is, or who/what the Moriarty character is at the end
Looks good tbh. I could do without Brent Spiner but I suppose I marginally prefer him in one of his more villainous roles since his bad-guy characters are all arrogant dickheads who subsequently feel like a more organic fit for him.

Three seasons of Picard and three versions of 'himself' Assuming this is Lore (which is has to be really)last.caress wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 9:25 am The Moriarty-looking fellow at the end is literally Moriarty. Data did some Sherlock Holmes cases on the holodeck.Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 8:55 am Trailer for Star Trek Picard series 3: Codgers In Space

Than he asked the computer to add a villain to match him (not Sherlock !) and things turned interesting...

Re: Star Trek all series appreciation thread
Picard season 3 trailer.
I hate myself. Season 2 was so, so, so bad after such a promising start. I ended up finishing it almost out of morbid curiosity. I couldn't believe the amount of filler in a 10 episode season.
But now that I've seen that trailer I know I will end up watching S3. The Moriarty and Lore reveals have hooked me. TNG always overdid the holodeck problems, but the Moriarty character and the way he was 'defeated' at the time were definitely my favourite holodeck episodes. The actor was great too. That and the episode where Worf played a sheriff.
Don't mind the new big bad either, she looks and sounds absolutely psychotic. Fingers crossed this season does the original characters justice and doesn't descend into nonsense again. The fact that it seems to actually be set in space this time is a big plus.

Strange New Worlds is pretty fantastic.
Especially for those like me who are highly dissapointed from Disco + Picard.

Picard season 3 dropped today on Amazon. Massively pulling on the nostalgia strings, I enjoyed it and hope it’s better than the ultimately poor season 2.

Watched the first Strange New Worlds today. Not bad, I'm another one who gave up on Discovery and this was heaps better.

Re: Star Trek all series appreciation thread
Finished season 1 of SNW today. Not bad apart from the naff Fairy tale story.
However the casting choice in the final episode for the guest character (spoilers) was terrible. How did they think that chinless wonder was going to measure up?

Just been announced that the next series of Discovery (due next year) will be the last - no huge loss for me, I'd rather they make more SNW or even Picard after the way s3 is going, so far

Yep, not going to miss Discovery at all. Gave up with it a few seasons ago.
Picard 3 is quite good. Another spaceship battle taking place in a Nebula this week...the Star Trek equivalent of a Star Wars asteroid field.

Re: Star Trek all series appreciation thread
thought I saw an ad saying this was the last season. I gave up after season 1.Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 6:20 pm Just been announced that the next series of Discovery (due next year) will be the last - no huge loss for me, I'd rather they make more SNW or even Picard after the way s3 is going, so far
Discovery not sure I made it all the way through season 1 and as for Brave New Worlds (is it ?) think I gave up after the very first episode...
I did watch The Next Generation pretty religiously though...thought it was excellent with a great cast (except for Riker most of the time)..
