That's the issue.
I was disappointed when it was unveiled as the Olympic stadium let alone as our new ground. following on from the birds nest and even the Athens and Sydney ones before it it looks completely unremarkable and like it was constructed as cheaply as possible. Big pile of scaffolding with some seats bolted in.

Can't see anyone stumping up the billions it would likely cost to demolish and rebuild (and as pointed out, from an investor/money perspective we're filling it so why bother?), so think we're stuck with it for as long as it's structurally sound for.

When landing in London, you get a great view of the London landmarks.

Saw this brilliant football stadium. Thought " is that Emirates or Spuds".

No, it was our very own London Stadium.

I'll tell you what, it is ****ing MASSIVE.

Which depends on where your seat is and how much you paid for it.

Do you think that if the day ever comes that we do own the stadium, we might get the power washer out?

It's looking proper filthy these days.

IF we own it we need to repace all the white with claret and blue. far less cleaning and our colours. the outside is a mess and the white seats are awful. surely we could have paid to change the seats to claret with white hammers cross on the BB stands.

to be a decent stadium it needs
1. outside white changed to claret and blue
2. Light the outside up as a claret bowel like Bayern Munich do
3. claret seats to replace white ones
4. Rebuild BB stand nearer the pitch
5. Move the pitch towards the West stand
6 Move STB and BM stands closer to the pitch
7. Re do the inner concourse so it has proper TV areas that show the earlier matches
8. Improve the outside by allowing more local traders on the sterile area before you get to the search area.

dreams I know

It's not even a decent view from the poshest seats in the stadium. I think a rebuilt 55,000 seater would mean more demand so higher prices. Better quality and more prawn sandwich seats like at spurs ground so even more revenue. The smaller stadium footprint (smaller capacity, closer to pitch, multi deck) would leave lots of room for development to pay for the stadium.

Investment is out there look what Chelsea has paid on two transfer windows, or the Saudis are spending on golf.

By the way I don't want a smaller capacity but I think that would roughly be it for reasons given.

I would imagine the facilities in Birmingham are going to be used for athletics now?

Yes re: Birmingham, but I guess a half decent Crystal Palace site for use by athletes in the South might kill any argument for continued use of the OS for athletics. Though the suggestion that West Ham make a donation to help will have only one outcome ....

Lol amazes me that someone thought painting it in white was a good idea.

If we painted the whole stadium in claret with some blue and white it would look great imo.

I still remember when it was going to be the Claret and Blue Allianz Arena, lighting up the East London night sky!

Can it be called a lie, if they wanted to do it and the local council/authorities said no because of light pollution?

I don't trust any of them to tell the truth and have long believed the Club/council are in cahoots. Concocting some bull**** as to why it now cannot be done, I don't believe they ever intended it to be. If that really was the case, they would have already known it wasn't possible and never suggested it in the first place. Razzle dazzle em...
