Re: Great lines in a song
He's five foot-two and he's six feet-four
He fights with missiles and with spears
He's all of 31 and he's only 17
Been a soldier for a thousand year
He's a Catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jain
A Buddhist, and a Baptist, and a Jew
And he knows he shouldn't kill
And he knows he always will
Kill you for me, my friend, and me for you
And he's fighting for Canada
He's fighting for France
He's fighting for the U.S.A
And he's fighting for the Russians
And he's fighting for Japan
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way
And he's fighting for Democracy
He's fighting for the Reds
He says it's for the peace of all
He's the one who must decide
Who's to live and who's to die
And he never sees the writing on the wall
But without him
How would Hitler have condemned them at Labau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone
He's the one who gives his body as a weapon of the war
And without him all this killing can't go on
He's the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame
His orders come from far away no more
They come from here and there and you and me
And brothers, can't you see?
This is not the way we put the end to war
He fights with missiles and with spears
He's all of 31 and he's only 17

Re: Great lines in a song
I've got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a hard rush
It's slowin' down
I got it real bad
Want everything she has
That smile and that midnight laugh
She's givin' you now
I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blond hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much
I've got a girl crush
I've got a girl crush
I don't get no sleep
I don't get no peace
Thinkin' about her
Under your bed sheets
The way that she's whisperin'
The way that she's pullin' you in
Lord knows I've tried
I can't get her off my mind
I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blond hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much
I've got a girl crush
I've got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a heart rush
It ain't slowin' down

Re: Great lines in a song
Let me try again
I know I said that I was leaving
But I just couldn't say goodbye
It was only self deceiving
To walk away from someone
Who means everything in life to you
You learn from every lonely day
I've learned and I've come back to stay
Let me try again
Let me try again
Think of all we had before
Let me try once more
We can have it all
You and I again
Just forgive me, or I'll die
Please, let me try again
I was such a fool to doubt you
To try to go it all alone
There's no sense to life without you
Now all I do is just exist
And think about the chance I've missed
To beg is not an easy task
But pride is such a foolish mask
Let me try again
Let me try again
Think of all we had before
Let me try once more
We can have it all
You and I again
Just forgive me
Or I'll die
Please, let me try again
I know I said that I was leaving

Re: Great lines in a song
I'm feeling rather sorry, for a man I know,
The World he holds in trembling hands,
Is asking 'Where to go?'
And as he stares out at me, from a mirrored wall,
I see that he is trying to cry,
But the tears they will not fall.
His life is passing by behind his tired eyes,
Like the colours in the January sky.
Useless it is to question
Things concerning the past
It seems so very obvious
That nothing at all can last
And just as sure as tomorrow
Will soon be yesterday
The love you thought to occupy
Will surely drift away
But I need you to help me carry on
You need me need you need him need everyone
And love is such a small word
For something that is so vast
But in it lies the future, the present and the past
And speaking now of changes
I sometimes feel the fear
That the reason for the meaning
Will even disappear
But I need you to help me carry on
You need me need you need him need everyone......
The World he holds in trembling hands,
Is asking 'Where to go?'
And as he stares out at me, from a mirrored wall,

The Proclaimers - Oh Jean
The first time I met you, it did cross my mind
The next time I saw you, there wasn't the time
The third time I saw you, I thought that I could
The fourth time I met you, I knew that I would
Wonderful

Re: Great lines in a song
'Ladies don't be frightened I'm an Indian,
I come from Timbuctoo, three, for, five six,
The day I sailed away it was a windy 'un,
Be careful girls I'm full of Indian tricks.'
A song called Wallah, Wallah, Wallahperoo' included in a Chas 'n Dave medley.
The rhyming of Indian with 'windy 'un' affords me great pleasure.

Slugs and snails are after me
D.D.T. keeps me happy
Now I guess I'll have to tell 'em
That I got no cerebellum
Kudos to the Ramones for not only getting "Cerebellum" into a song but actually rhyming it...

Re: Great lines in a song
She was sharing her spin dryer with a guy in a tie-dye
When she saw my reflection in the chrome
I knew that she'd seen me cause she dropped her bikini
The one that I got her in Rome
When she finished her laundry she was all in a quandary
And made it for the street like a hare
Her escape was so urgent, she forgot her detergent
And dropped all her clean underwear
When she saw my reflection in the chrome
I knew that she'd seen me cause she dropped her bikini
The one that I got her in Rome
When she finished her laundry she was all in a quandary

C. Beefheart:
Woman like long neck bottles
And a big head on her beer
I don't like to talk about my women
But I hold that woman dear
Well, one night she got to drinking
Got out and shot up the town
I'll be damned if she didn't bring an airplane down
I don't like to talk about my women
But this one sure could chug 'em down
I don't like to talk about my women
But this one sure could chug 'em down
Woman like long neck bottles
And a big head on her beer
I don't like to talk about my women
But I hold that woman dear
Well, one night she got to drinking

Rather than I wanna hold your hand
I wanna lick you everywhere that's pink
In every way you think
Whole kit kaboodle and the kitchen sink

Leaving me to doubt
Talk about, God in His mercy
Oh, if he really does exist
Why did he desert me
In my hour of need
I truly am indeed
Alone again, naturally

And nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
And we'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police.
I resolved to call her up
A thousand times a day
And ask her if she'll marry me
Some old-fashioned way
I'm always confused by this lyric.
Does he resolve to call her up 1,000 times a day? Assuming you get an 8 hour sleep, that leaves 16 hours. Which is 960 minutes. So he'll be calling her every 50 seconds or so. I don't think that would go down well.
Especially if he's talking in some old fashioned voice.
She would be pretty pissed off after the first call of "Well Hello my darling. How would you enjoy partaking in some nuptials with my good self"
