Re: Quiz Thread
I have one. If Frank hadn't fallen over in the 120th minute at Elland Road in the 1980 semi replay, where was the 2nd replay v Everton due to be played?
Edit - it wasn't back at Elland Road or Villa Park.

Re: Quiz Thread
Correct!
Given the continued downsizing i suspect a third replay would have been scheduled for Vale Park.

Re: Quiz Thread
Eh ?! Get outta town.
I think the other semi was at HR.
That’s the only reason I said it.

Re: Quiz Thread
You're right. The other semi went to a third replay. I knew that, but didn't realise the decider was at HR!

Re: Quiz Thread
This extract says it all.
Arsenal had, incredibly, been involved in an even longer replay saga on their way to winning the FA Cup the previous year, taking five matches to dismiss Third Division Sheffield Wednesday in the third round.
Imagine Wenger’s reaction to playing on January 6, 9, 15, 17 and 22, just for the privilege of reaching the fourth round.

Re: Quiz Thread
I was 16 when we went to Elland Road for the replay. Got on the coach afterwards and all the bloke’s had clubbed together and told me and another kid to go into the working mans’ club and buy a couple of crates. So we took our scarves off, jumped the police cordon and went in there and it was full of depressed Evertonians.
My mate ordered the beers in a loud broad accent and a huge scouser went up to him. I thought we were dead. He wished us luck against the red scum. iirc, Liverpool drew a second time that night against Arsenal so they had a third match.
Great night, my favourite ever

And mine. ( I was living in S. Yorkshire ) didn't have a ticket, just walked up. Met up with a couple of mates, now sadly passed, ended up at some old sort's. They hung around all week till we blew all our dough at some casino in Sheffield...

Re: Quiz Thread
Is the answer. 1933 v Everton. Looks like we had a shocker.
In the semi-final they played West Ham at Molineux, Wolverhampton. Everton took the lead in the sixth minute. A corner kick by Stein was headed on by Johnson, and then headed into the net by Dunn.[8] Everton had the better of the play in the first half, but Vic Watson scored for West Ham just before half-time. In the second half West Ham's Woods missed an open goal from six yards (5.5m).[8] Everton then capitalised on their reprieve. With seven minutes remaining, a mistake by Jim Barrett allowed Edward Critchley to go clear on goal and score the winner.
