You would expect Areola has done enough to expect to be picked. Looks a better bet than Fabianski to me at the current time.

I can’t see Moyes keeping Fab on the bench for the Fonz. He’ll argue he hasn’t done much wrong before his injury.

Remember, Haller started and scored in a 1-0 win away at Sheffield United in Moyes’ first full season when Antonio was injured and he still dropped Haller and brought Antonio back in for the following game at home to Man United. I bet Moyes does the same again with Fab.

areola hasnt done anything wrong to be dropped. fab had the jersey but got injured, now its areola time. also moving forward we need areola to build confidence and after a few games now this is happening. cant keep changing. fab will have to wait or be content to be number 2 now

If your best players are fit they play. If Fab is fit for this game, he comes straight back in for me. Areola is terrible at corners and gives me a heart attack every time we concede one.

Areola isn't great at corners, but Fabianski isn't very good either.

What Areola gives the team in terms of quick distribution, is invaluable for us.

Fab is too cautious and holds on for the ball for too long negating an opportunity for us to counter.

----------------Areola
Coufal--Aguerd--Zouma--Emerson
----------------Rice
------Lanzini-------Paqueta
Bowen--------Ings--------Cornet

Get Rice sitting like he does for England and have lots of pace and movement up front for Lanzini & Paqueta to feed

I like this a lot … excellent work
Especially the lack of Johnson and Fornals

That front 3 screams pace … I remember a game at St Andrews circa August 2007 we won 1-0 Noble’s first penalty IIRC
2nd half we had
Kieron Dyer ( in maybe the one game he could run )
Craig Bellamy
& Matty Etherington running at Birmingham
1-0 flattered Brum

Areola

Coufal Zouma Aguerd Cresswell

Paqueta Rice

Bowen Benrahma Fornals

Ings

Give Benrahma some license to roam, use Cresswell's crossing, Fornals offers extra coverage and has a good partnership with Cresswell. Should make it easier for Paqueta and Benrahma to link up.

That would be my team. Possibly Antonio instead of Ings.

I can see this being an entertaining game with two teams going for it. I’m going for a 2-1 win to us.

Would like to see Moyes go 442, but know he won’t.

Areola
Coufal Zouma Aguerd Emerson
Bowen Paqueta Rice Benrahma
Ings Scamacca

Subs: Fabianski, Cresswell, Johnson, Ogbonna, Soucek, Lanzini, Cornet, Fornals, Antonio.

COYI!!!

We went a stupid amount of time without conceding from a corner this season (was it like 30 games or something?)
The second Fab gets injured, we’ve conceded from a couple.

For me, Fab plays in every league game if he’s fit.

Yeah I noticed our defence seemed rattled from corners since Areola came in goals, don't know if it's because he hadn't played for a while and didn't have the understanding with Aguerd, but we conceded some soft goals between those 2. They have a set-piece specialist in Ward-Prowse as well.

No justification for dropping Emerson.
