Jim Gordon. Admit I'd never heard of this bloke till he turned up on a Zappa forum. Tragic case of mental illness, not least for his mother, but his pedigree as a drummer is amazing.

Bernie Hunt aka Falcon from the Gladiators TV show. My wife used to teach her daughter and she was a lovely lady, very friendly and had time to speak to everyone with a lovely beaming smile.

RIP.

Keith Reid, lyricist for Procol Harum, dies aged 76

Keith Reid, the lyricist for Procol Harum whose poetic vision on Whiter Shade of Pale made it a defining song of the 1960s, has died aged 76.

He died in a London hospital, after receiving cancer treatment for two years. The band paid tribute to him on social media, writing: “His lyrics were one of a kind and helped to shape the music created by the band. His imaginative, surreal and multi-layered words were a joy to Procol fans and their complexity by design was a powerful addition the Procol Harum catalogue. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”

Ray Shulman.
Multi instrumentalist with the 'unique' (and one of my favourite British bands) Gentle Giant and previously Simon Dupree and The Big Sound.

Only just seen that he died on March 30th.

Had this track in me head for years, a flatmate played it. It's out there, the wonder of YT:

Hard to think of a more gifted bunch of British musicians than those guys. Grossly under appreciated IMHO. Although definitely far from everones cuppa. Regrettably never saw them live, went to one gig but they didn't show, can't remember the reason given but never got the chance again, think it may have been around the time they were packing it all in.

Only heard this on LP before, seeing it 'live' makes me wonder at the sheer discipline of their playing.
