I only watched Coventry's playoff games, so obviously they're not particulary representative of his whole season, but Gyokeres didn't strike me as particularly quick. He's a willing runner and obviously knows where the net is, but I'm not convinced he'll make the step up tbh.

Marcus Thuram

Out of contract at the end of June..

What a dream signing he would be, especially for the way we play.

Destined for bigger things, no doubt.

Not sure what to think about this window. Coufal and Crewells extensions have confused me. Ooo err. Obviously.

But I though both full back positions would have been strengthened.

I suspect we will get a left sided attacker. A CB and replacement for Rice.

Yeah. The Playoff games were the worst things you could watch if you wanted to convince yourself he is the one for us.

If we do sign him, it’ll be a case of hoping he is much better than he showed in those games.

Is there a chance than Nunez isn't at the Salah/Mane level that Liverpool need?
His skill set still looks exactly what we need.
Any chance they take a decent loss on him?

Funny, I was wondering last night whether the club is keeping tabs on him. Looks like a prime, elite version of Antonio. But that comes with chaos and unpredictability, which the top clubs don’t want.

I read a scout report on him before the move which basically ended with the belief he’d be great for someone like us, but get found out at the top level.

£40m next season might suit everyone.

The solution is obvious, change the restrictive, last century system then.

Not happening as long as we have Moyes.

We were after him and were beaten to the signing by Liverpool so yes he could be an option.

Klopp appears to favour Gakpo over Nunez. Salah is undroppable then theres Djota and Diaz. Personally I'm not sure the Uruguayan will get many minutes for the scousers....

Not sure it would suit Liverpool very well, didn't they pay about £70m for him?

Two seasons in by then, if he’s had a season similar or worse to this one, they’re never getting near £70m.

£40m to us is probably a lot better than they’d get from the continent.

Yep 80m Euros so £68m.
If we bid £50m last Jan I reckon you would probably need to go on at low 50s.

If no, then its a no. They overpaid for him for what they need but agree with Wilko we accept a level of unpredictability that Liverpool don't.

Think it's a case of does klopp think he will settle to what they need or take a smaller (say £15m hit now).

The inconsistency in front of goal is a big problem. Think he has missed more “big chances” than our whole team this season!

While Antonio has problems with his finishing; they are predictable problems which you can then compensate for in the types of chances you look to create.

Just depends how much of Nunez’s problem is mental from the pressure of playing for Liverpool as he works hard and gets in the right positions so you can see why we were interested. Just feels a big risk to me at the likely asking price.

I do tend to agree with AH’s comment on the previous page. We scored plenty and finished 6th and 7th with Antonio leading the line. We don’t need a potential 20 goal man up top, we need someone who helps make us a 60+ goal team. I think the clubs and fans have become obsessed with the idea that our finishing is the problem when, IMO, it is much wider than that.
