Re: Declan Rice
I’d never go as far to say too good, but more like he’s selling himself very, very short. He literally has the world at his feet and he goes to a club that won’t win either the championship or the champions league before he’s 30. I also reckon Arsenal won’t then roll over to have their tummy tickled if he then wants to move on to where he deserves to be. They will no doubt play hard ball with him, fall out with him and leave him out to dry.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:05 pm I genuinely think there's every chance we finish above Arsenal next season.
It would be a dreadful choice of club for him. Far too good for them.

Re: Declan Rice
It sounds very much to me like Declans representatives may have let it be known he may prefer to hang around in an attept to lower the asking price.
The Chairman himself has been quoted as saying Declan has lost £10m in wages by not signing the offered contract.
A big signing on fee at a new club solves that.
The Chairman has a choice, , sell for a price that allows room for a large signing on fee now, or see the player leave in 2 years time for nothing, and the player gets a huge signing on fee.
Its why some of us have been dismissing the £120m tag.
Sullivan, while not liking it would take £70m, leaving Rice room to demand a £20m signing on fee.
The player holds all the Aces, and the Chairman will swallow his pride.

Said pretty much the same back in 2000 when Rio went to Leeds.Viv Stanshall wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 9:39 pm I’d never go as far to say too good, but more like he’s selling himself very, very short. Re: Declan Rice
Leeds then found themselves financially compromised and suppose they were at the start of trying to stave off financial collapse so selling him was a no brainier. Arsenal for some reason still see themselves up there as one of the top leading lights in world football and they just aren’t, nowhere near. They could ruin him if they win nothing soon, but they won’t be able to admit that he’s better off elsewhere. I genuinely believe it’s the worst club choice aside from Spurs, who would also act in a similar manner.Late of the Boleyn wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 9:44 pm Said pretty much the same back in 2000 when Rio when to Leeds.

Re: Declan Rice
He didn’t sound like a man that was dead set on leaving us going by his speech on the Stratford town hall balcony. Talked about exciting times at West Ham.
I still think he will leave, but I reckon he is really torn. On one hand he wants to win trophies, but on the other hand he loves West Ham and has just one a trophy with us. The grass isn’t always greener.

He's just won one.
If he stayed, it may not be his, nor our, last.

Yep, and I mentioned that in my post.
Agree, if he stays, we can build on this and maybe win another trophy.

Re: Declan Rice
If I were Sullivan, I’d be offering him £250k a week for the next 3/4 years and saying: we’re building the team around you, you’re still young and we’ll match your ambition to fight for trophies.
By sadly I think Dec loves the club but doesn’t trust it to go in the direction he wants to. It’s about how the club is run, and what’s possible. Otherwise Arsenal would be a side step, but Arsenal have a plan, facilities and momentum we can’t match at the moment. That’s why it’s a step up.

Yes, we got to the semi of the Europa League last season with a smaller, worse squad that didn't have Paqueta. We've got a great shout at winning it next season, especially that now this team know how to win. They've got the mentality, and winning becomes a habit.

No reason we cannot step up yet again. Don't the Winners of that go into The CL?

Re: Declan Rice
If he wants trophies he's better of going to Bayern.
When he leaves us the only club where he will be nailed on for trophies in the prem is city.
Arsenal will struggle for top 4 next season unless they strengthen in all 3 areas of the pitch.
Would love him to see sign a one year extension with an improved contract

Re: Declan Rice
If his priority was ££££s he’d have signed rather than refused the £200k a week contract months ago. Watch his interview with Gary Neville - he wants CL football and the chance of medals. End of.
Sullivan will try to get the best price for him now. Not sure what else he can do. His value will only now depreciate if he did stay on the current deal. We’ve had the benefit of half his career. Everton lost Rooney when he was a teenager. Time to move on.

Re: Declan Rice
Dec, you're still just 24,
In a year or two they'll still knock at your door.
You've just led us to trophy glory
So why not carry on that story?
Next year were back in the Europa
With a chance. Well, one can hope. A
Game is all that stood in our way
When we played in it yesterday.
So go to L'Arse and warm their bench
When leaving us is such a wrench.
You'll be playing DM without no freedom -
To go to them is a form of treason.
If you have to go, go abroad, don't stay
Or stay with us where you're guaranteed to play.
You're the Captain of our team
So stay with us and keep up the dream.

Didn't you say that you were sure that Sullivan would have completed the sale of the club by now?the pink palermo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 9:40 pm It sounds very much to me like Declans representatives may have let it be known he may prefer to hang around in an attept to lower the asking price.
