Big George - I’ve enjoyed Nails new album too, Taking Us Back was a song of theirs from about 4 years ago was the first I’d heard of them.
Foo Fighters - not my bag either really, they’re not bad but don’t get my pulse really running. However Dave Grohl is a decent bloke - doing charitable stuff.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time with my uncle recently, who was a hippy in the 70s, and going through some of the tunes he was into back in the day. I really enjoyed JJ Cale’s ‘Troubadour’ album, and this track in particular.

Karkossyn - Troubled Youth.
Started a bit slow but ends up channeling the wonderfully (bleak) Christoph De Babalon.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
This is shaping up to be the leanest half year for new music that I've had for a very long time.
Apart from Machinefabriek (who put out an album every 6 weeks, pretty much), it's just been a handful of albums that I've kind-of-liked (Rat Heart Ensemble, Tim Hecker, Kali Malone, Tujiko Noriko, Avey Tare) but nothing to rave about.

It's not been full of highlights yet has it. I think 2021 followed a same path but picked up towards the end, fingers crossed for 2023. I think general lack of time to scour and listen to new albums has also impaced things a fair bit for me as well.

I spend a lot of time deep diving back into favourite artists with massive back catalogues. My top 10 most listened to artists this year are: Animal Collective, Machinefabriek, Panda Bear, Lilocox, Tim Hecker, Loop, Autechre, Throwing Muses, Robyn Hitchcock and Enhypen.

This is good. The album is very very good.
Rob Lloyd from the Nightingales, Janet Beveridge Bean from Freakwater, and a band that includes Bedders from Madness and Lindy Morrison from The Go Betweens.

I've got sixteen 2023 albums in my Spotify library which could potentially make my year end top10.Korea Hammer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 5:23 am This is shaping up to be the leanest half year for new music that I've had for a very long time.
I'll give them all another listen over the next couple of weeks and post a half year summary at the end of June.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
Not a Cars fan per se, although I did like their first album when it came out many lifetimes ago. Before Christmas I bout a new system with a turntable because i wanted to listen to the vinyl I've had sitting in a closet. The system has frankly sounded like **** out of the box. I've had fingers crossed that this has been down to a burn in period that I have to play my way through. Anyhow, recently I decided to order a Rhino Records reissue of the Cars debut album, pressed by some highfalutin sonic master to see if a jump in quality in fidelity makes any difference. It has been reviewed very well, and frankly was the only option they had on offer. I'm happy to report that it makes an enormous difference. Unhappy to report that I won't be doing that again because it was bloody expensive.
Anyhow, this on vinyl.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
A lean year so far for albums but I did like Momento Mori by Depeche, a real return to form.
However favourite release of the year is 72 Seasons by Metallica.
