If Soucek does end up leaving, it'll be with a real sense of sadness from me. I can understand people pointing to his limitations, but he has plenty to offer as well. He's played over 200 games, scoring over 30 goals in the process. He's been integral to our form improving from relegation threatened to European regulars, remaining the absolute definition of a model professional throughout.
Hammer of the year. Joint top scorer. European Conference Cup winner. Leader on the pitch. Potato salad consumer. £20m well spent.
He has been integral for us for the best part of 5 years.
I love the guy, but I genuinely cant see him being happy sitting on the bench at this stage of his career.

My dream signing to start beside Kilman would be Murillo at Forest. Only 22 but already one of those warrior/organiser types, a dogged fighter and clearly a future star with an elite mentality.
I imagine he wouldn't cost a penny less than 40m at the very least, though
We ring them enquiring and baulk at the price, Tony Christie answers singing " This what you pay for a Murillo "

I will add covers every blade of grass on the pitch running more than any other player,
puts his head where most players won't put their foot, all for the honour of our badge.
The captain of a country should always be good enough to play for West Ham

Agreed. I do wonder if those clamouring for Fofana or whoever else have watched them play 200 times, and are guilty of preferring the exotic mistress at the local strip club over the faithful hard working wife at home.
Don't do it lads, it ends in tears. And with Sullivan making money out of it.

Couldn't agree more, Tomáš is a club legend
We also regularly hang on to players for too long and even sadder will be watching TS become increasingly a bit-part player at most while others shine. For me either option is sad, I'd rather see him thrive somewhere at the tail end of his career then find his way home once he's retired

I'm not sure we need another midfielder after Rodriguez comes in, that area is packed now considering how Lop is likely to set up.
But I do think that a decision may need to be made on Soucek or JWP and I think it's likely Soucek that may be deemed as surplus to requirements

Players come, players go. We have a new manager whose reputation is on the line.
If he sees Soucek as part of the squad, brilliant. UTJ has given a good account of his qualities and not just as a player.
Don't personally think its disrespectful to discuss as long as there are no personal attacks on Soucek.
A great servant and very much loved.
Agree. It's not disrespectful, we all talk about what players we'd like to see stay or go, who we'd like to sign or not and so on. Just sometimes when it's a player that a lot of people really like, they take it as a lack of loyalty or personally.
Interestingly, you could similarly list the fantastic achievements of Michail Antonio at West Ham, but you won't find the same defensiveness of him when it is suggested that his time is up.

Personally i never understood the drooling about Fofana, never rated him when I’ve seen him play
Whilst the season starts in under two weeks there are still 26 days until the end of the transfer window. It’s great that we’re doing some good business but some of the bigger clubs who have plenty of PSR space have noticeably kept their powder dry so far….anyone half expecting some big bids for some of of our star players in the last few weeks of the window if those clubs don’t start well?

I think those that felt strongly about Moyes leaving, feel equally as strong about Soucek, which is fine, and certainly not a criticism of anyone.
I don't see him getting many minutes this season, so let's see how loyal he is after a long stretch on the bench.
I'd rather him move on and play, than become unhappy here.

gomez is "versatile" because while he's a decent enough all round footballer he's never really excelled in any role. neither a hard as nails centre back, nor a good attacking right back.
decent enough squad cover but not for the price liverpool will ask. sort of player that you'd pick up on a free if you could.
Tbh, my concern would be Kudus. At first I thought it would be a bit daft signing Füllkrug AND Duran, but what if the thinking is that we keep negotiating for Duran in either the hope that we can agree a loan with obligation for next summer or in case someone puts in an offer for Kudus that we can’t refuse…..
probably being paranoid but if we sold Kudus we prob wouldn’t buy another right winger as we’d put Bowen back there but may make sense then to buy another pacey, mobile striker instead….

Along with Bowen, probably our best signing in the Premier league for me. I think he will suprise a few people this year
