Re: Site has become very slow for me
Hussar!!
I'd basically given up browsing the site, (my posting history can be described as lethargic in the best of times), now I've stumbled on this fix I'm back lurking with the best of 'em.
Thanks UTJ

Bums me out how slow and unresponsive the site is when trying to reply to threads or browse on iPhone.
Can we pay a fee to get rid of adverts if the cause is the adverts?

Re: Solved: Site has become very slow for me
Boss, the site has been slow for me for about 2 weeks. I've tried the "privacy rejection" fix and I've tried different browsers (Edge and Safari) but it's not improving. It's not 'back to the old days' kind of slow but it is definitely hesitant compared to normal. Is this just Transfer Thread traffic or what?
Thanks
Thanks

EDIT: I should add that it's kind of erratic, like 20% of the time it's fine but 80% there's a delay and no particular rhyme or reason which one it's going to be when I click.
Thanks

Have had the odd slowdown for a few minutes but nothing large scale. Is anyone else experiencing the same as scatts, here?

Re: Solved: Site has become very slow for me
Boss, I guess nobody else is having similar problems or you'd be sick of hearing about it! I've been trying to eliminate potential issues at my end and I can say it's not my computer, or browser, or anything like that because I have similar problems when on my iPhone (whether connected via home wi-fi or 5G) as I do from the MacBook. Just now I've tried firing up the VPN and connected to a UK server and everything is working fine, very rapid, so my best guess is that it's got something to do with connections to KUMB from Polish ISPs or Polish phone numbers. I guess potentially any connection that's not in the UK but I've just checked via a VPN connection in Berlin and that was also fine.
Is there any way to check at your end whether Poland generally or my connections specifically have been 'blacklisted' in some way that would cause random connection difficulties? Maybe your system has been getting a lot of spam or weird **** from Poland and any connections are being checked or monitored? I wish I could be more specific but it's so random. Sometimes a problem getting into KUMB generally, sometimes just the GD forum, sometimes specific topics, sometimes it lasts quite a while and others there's a short delay and then it's fine for a while and then back to delays again....
Or maybe some changes or updates were made to your system about a month ago that might have caused a glitch? Before this, everything was working just fine.
Many thanks!

Re: Solved: Site has become very slow for me
Site has been very glitchy for me. It seems to be the screen trying to orientate itself to accommodate the bottom ad pop up and the really annoying Coke Zero one that takes up half the top of the screen.
Re: Solved: Site has become very slow for me
The site has been terribly slow for me lately but I just stumbled upon this sub-forum. Never even knew it was there. Tried UTJ's workaround and it seems to have worked a treat. No lag when typing, moving between sub-forums and threads with ease, with little lag at all.
Am on Chrome on my laptop but just tried it on my iPhone (safari) and seems to have improved that as well.
I've been having an issue where typing out a reply, the page auto refreshes and it disappears. Or I go to post and it asks me to sign in again and my reply disappears. Hopefully this is linked and has resolved that too. This would usually be on Safari.

Re: Solved: Site has become very slow for me
UTJ - thanks for checking.
Current situation is that it's fine with a VPN connection from any country, including Poland, but when using without VPN, just my home T-Mobile 5G, it's still horrid despite literally everything else being fine with the 5G.
I'll try clearing my cache and see if that makes any difference.
