Yorks -

Ok , I've had a look at various TVs in your price range and in your preferred size of 43" -

Without looking closely I suggested Hisense , Philips , Samsung and LG ...however the one I'd go for in 43" would be....

The TCL 43C655K at £349

BUT.....for another few quid you could get the same model in 55" for £398 .

That would be the TCL 55C655K .....both can be found at Richer Sounds ...

They only come with a 2 year guarantee [ which is more than Amazon's 1 year ] .

In the £300 - £400 every 43" TV will be much of a muchness - the TCL stands out for me .

There's a couple of Philips - 43PUS8079 - £295 - 50PUS7009 - £295 [ the first number indicates size of screen - 43 and 50 .

There's a Samsung UE43DU8000 - £349 [ VIP price - just means filling in a form with Richer Sounds ] .

Quite a few Hisense in your price range and size -

Hisense 43A6KTUK - £229
Hisense 43A6NTUK - £349

Personally the cheapest Hisense I'd go for would be the U7K ...the U8K is a lot better

There is a 55U6KQTUK for £429 ...again at a VIP price [ fill online form ]

The Hisense 55U7KQTUK is £589 ...so while the quality goes up so does the price .

I think Hisense are great value ..beginning with the U7K .

I mentioned the Hisense UX earlier ...and if I were in the market for a TV I'd be giving that one SERIOUS consideration - it's not OLED but it's as good as ...with no risk of burn-in ...S-H has had an OLED for years and his has been fine as have many others , they're just not for me I'm afraid [ too many fingers pausing the TV ] .

DO NOT buy any TVs in your price range made by Panasonic or Toshiba - they're not made by those firms , they're outsourced to Turkish manufacturers , Vestel . The more expensive Panas are fine .

When it comes to guarantees , Richer Sounds are brilliant to deal with as are Costco and John Lewis .

All prices I've quoted are Richer Sounds - they will price match as will John Lewis .

All the best . :newthumb:

Might just need to check whether it qualifies for their 'Next Day Shipping' offer...

p.s. there is an LG 50" for under £400 that I highly recommend but I've forgotten the details .

I think it's this one -

LG LED UR78 50" 4K Smart TV, 2023 - £334 from Amazon - £349 from Currys .

My daughter bought one and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the picture .

Not as good as my XF9005 but for £349 well worth the money .

Do you take a chair and a flask of tea and just move from 1 TV to the next?

While I'm here....has anyone ever bothered to get their TVs calibrated ?

I changed the settings on mine but what I wasn't aware of till later was ...you need to change them for every input .

No one's going to come up to Skye to calibrate my TV but I guess there's a few working around England .

If you're going spend around £3500 - £5000 on a TV you may as well pay the £350 to get it properly calibrated .

Best Value - LOGIK LO2SMS17 sandwich toaster - £14.99 from Currys .

Best Overall - Breville Ultimate Deep Fill Sandwich maker - £34.00 from Currys .

For those living in the South of England - Cuisinart sandwich maker, GRSM1U - £110.00 from Amazon though I did find it for £79.99 from Lakeland .

For those of you who for one reason or another don't want to go down the OLED route [ and I'm one ] -

The Sony Bravia 9 is where I'd definitely invest my dosh - the Hisense UX is VERY interesting - just not enough details .

Thing is , they only have them in 75" and 85" just now -

John Lewis have just 2 in stock -

Sony
Bravia 9 K75XR90PU (2024) QLED XR Mini LED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart Google TV, 75 inch with Youview & Dolby Atmos, Black
£3,329.00

The Hisense UX 65" can be found for £1200 [ a very tempting price ] .

I’ve played around with them via YouTube videos. I’ve got a Samsung S90C 65 so have looked at things specific for that for sport, movies etc. Each picture setting saves so I can flick between those (Movie, Filmmaker etc). Picture looks much better than the standard settings especially for sport.

Yeah , I altered several settings but a professional calibration goes into further detail -

FAO Yorks -

Those TCL TVs I recommended don't have BBC iPlayer , ITV X facility but if you contact TCL they send you a Roku streamer for free apparently - an Amazon Firestick would work also . If you have Sky Q you'll be fine .

I set mine somewhere between PALE and BURNT .

If you'd care to see the settings I used for my XF9005 I could print them here .

Yorks ,

I've looked again at that TCL and although it's highly thought of on AVforums I can't recommend it -

Only 2 x HDMI and problems with BBC iPlayer and other Apps which TCL supply you with a Roku gadget to make up for it .

I much prefer the LG UR700 -

3 x HDMI

43" can be bought for as little as £239 from ee.co.uk - £279 from John Lewis .

50" - £334 from John Lewis - £334 from Argos .

I've seen this one in person , my Daughter has the 50" version and for the price it's rather good - I'm thinking of getting one for our let .

Sorry to bother you with a request mate but with your expertise, have you had any dealings with this TV at all?

https://www.samsung.com/uk/tvs/qled-tv/ ... n700ctxxu/

Potentially along with this soundbar

https://www.samsung.com/uk/audio-device ... -q800d-xu/

Not a problem if not, but I've done my own research and read plenty of reviews but you can never know if you can trust them fully as they may have been a sponsored review. You can't beat real life experience though.

I'm not wanting you to dig around online for a deal for me but i'm basically looking for the best 55" i can get for a budget of 800-1k, maybe 1,200 if it means i can squeeze a soundbar in, so if theres any you know of off the top of your head then please chuck them my way..

cheers for any advice mate :newthumb:
