****ing 'ell, he was good. Not the most skillful player, ever but by God, he never left it out there on the pitch. Wish we had a player in our team like him now and he absolutely, loved this club

Re: happy birthday SIR billy bonds
I've had a number of wonderful interactions with Billy.
The first time I met him at a signing event thing and I mentioned he was my Dad's hero and he was gutted he couldn't be there today. Billy, despite the queue behind me, suggested I call my Dad and they have a quick chat. I could literally hear my Dad getting emotional on the other end of the phone. Made his year that did. During that conversation I mentioned I was getting married later that year.
A few years later, at another event, he remembered me and asked how the wedding went. Absolutely no reason to remember me or that.
What a bloke.

The term “ legend” gets used a little too freely these days, but it’s the word rightly applied to King Billy, wonderful player, true gentleman, and a hero to a generation of Hammers. Happy Birthday.

He was why I fell for West Ham in the early 70's. I'm not from East London. West Ham wasn't handed down through generations of family. There wouldn't have been many septic fans of the club back in those days. It was Bonzo that hooked me. He continues to be my favorite Hammer even today. Happy Birthday to THE Captain of captains.

Absolute hero of a player and a man.I was amused yesterday listening to Talksport when they mentioned BB and were imagining if Neil Maupay had met BB on the pitch.I think Hawksby said there would just be a pile of bones on the pitch at the end where Maupay had been.

It was thanks to Sir Bobby that I began supporting this fantastic club, but players such as Sir Trevor and definitely Sir Billy that kept my faith.
Happy birthday Mr. Bonds. Here's to many, many more.
