Re: Formula1
Agree with you both.
They've made a right pigs ear of it. If they fail to win either titles, it's their own doing.
Zak Brown trying to please everyone has seriously backfired.

Re: Formula1
I think McLaren have surprised even themselves with how well their car is performing, and have failed to switch into a championship winning mentality.
We can criticise Red Bull, Horner, Verstappen et al all we like, but they knew to make the most of their time at the top. Ditto Mercedes, Ferrari and so on.
Norris could be 10 points closer to Verstappen now with no overall points lost to McLaren simply by swapping their finishing places in Hungary and Monza.
52 points from 8 is a tough ask but not impossible, a Norris - Verstappen 1 - 2 in every race eats up 42. One DNF or a couple of lower finishes for Verstappen and it's game on.
62 points though? All Verstappen needs to do is finish just behind Norris each race and the title's his.

Re: Formula1
With so many potential winners on the track right now it is going to be very tricky for Norris to win from here.
Ferrari and Mercedes will stop Lando winning the title, not MV and Red Bull IMO.

Re: Formula1
Norris won’t win every race but as you point out Verstappen just needs to hang on to Norris’s coat tail for rest of season. Red Bull have made hay while the sun shone and look like getting away with it again.sendô wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 12:20 pm

A DNF will certainly put the cat among the pigeons though.

Won’t be winning this from 17th

Re: Formula1
Superb racing between Piastri and LeClerc, yet as soon as Sainz and Perez get within a foot of each other...boom!
Well done to Colapinto and Bearman as well.

Absolutely incredible race. So good now that there are multiple teams and drivers who are pushing for the win.
Great drive by Piastri. A well deserved victory.

Re: Formula1
Sainz made a mess of that. He got greedy after passing Perez and should have just slotted in behind LeClerc. Went too deep, allowed Perez back in and then didn't stay on his line.
Good race though. Mercs pace seems to have evaporated

Re: Formula1
So it would appear that McLaren have been running with a flexible rear wing.

Re: Formula1
When red bull do it it’s ’clever engineering’ are the rules different for others? The wing passes the current tests, maybe they’ll change the test (as they’ve done in the past) and it won’t then we’ll see. Mercedes' have something similar going on as well.sendô wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 7:36 am So it would appear that McLaren have been running with a flexible rear wing.

It’s legal until it’s not just Red Bull don’t like it when others are being the smart ones.

Re: Formula1
I'm still staggered how Red Bull have gone from being so far ahead the season was a write off, to looking like taxis out there.

Re: Formula1
Reduced wind tunnel time as part of their extra sandwiches sanctions plus their dodgy braking system being discovered may have played a part.

Re: Formula1
That and Verstappen turning out to be a petulant child constantly throwing his toys out of the pram because his car isn't a second a lap faster than everyone else.
