Its not harsh, he was a yard off covering the Fulham forward in the most vital area for a defender when the forward is attacking the near post. Both central defenders were poor, but so was the entire team first half.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:51 am Harsh on Klman it may be, but if the player you are marking scores then as a defender you will not be pleased.
The highlights packages of the game were telling, we didn't have the ball once the entire first half piece.

You clearly havent been watching us long then...Westbourne Bill wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 2:29 pm I don’t recall ever seeing a defender make 3 mistakes in the lead up to a goal.
1. Playing the opposition on side
2. Presuming incorrectly the ball will go out
3. Failing to aggressively close the cross down by keeping his arms behind his back.
Must be a first.

It would be very concerning if it was down to fitness, or more accurately lack of it. But I guess it's also concerning if the bloke isn't the bees knees we're led to believe he is.,

If Todibo doesn't feature against Chelsea we're nearing the one-month mark of him being not involved in competetive matches. Not sure you're getting the rust off with being completely off the pitch.

Starting to wonder if the clause for the permanent sale might be a factor in it.DusseldorfHammer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:47 am If Todibo doesn't feature against Chelsea we're nearing the one-month mark of him being not involved in competetive matches. Seems unlikely they'll have got cold feet already but given it's been pushed out that it's very easy to trigger the clause it's going to look a little fishy if he's still riding the pine in a few weeks. Especially if Mavrapanos continues to make himself extremely droppable.

He’s not good enough/not done it in training/not shown he’s ready for the PL…. dunno, but to say it’s purely fitness now is a bit of a stretch.

Dissonance between the style they tried to play and the players picked to do it was plain for all to see. Frustrating because you just knew the second the line up was announced. Any comparisons to Moyes when it comes to the build up etc is just silly for me.

I am more than happy to give Loppy time but the early signs are not particularly encouraging. Not a Moyes basher but I can't help thinking that years of playing such a basic, rigid style of play has become really ingrained in some of our players.By the end of the Moyes era,we seemed to have completely lost any ability to pass, create or retain the ball. There has definitely been a shift in our play to more possession as can be seen from the stats, but that will take some time to become natural to the players and for some(Soucek?) ,it might never happen. However,we should never see that starting midfield again. It was awful.

J and C highlighting the lack of physicality, saying it has to be miles better, which it does. Trouble is I’m not sure how that happens given that players don’t suddenly find an extra two yards of pace.

I suspect Antonio has been scoring against him in training so straight to the bottom of the list!Aceface wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:00 am Starting to wonder if the clause for the permanent sale might be a factor in it.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised how many are willing to write off the 45 minutes against Bournemouth. He was waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy off the pace. Any opposition manager seeing that would target him.
I'd guess we've got the bubble wrap on while he works on stuff in training.

Since then any opposition manager rubs his hands when he sees Mavropanos in our line-up and will show them his mistake during City's third goal and the calamity he produces against Fulham on Saturday.MB wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 1:49 pm I suspect Antonio has been scoring against him in training so straight to the bottom of the list!

It’s Moyes fault for signing him!DusseldorfHammer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 2:58 pm Since then any opposition manager rubs his hands when he sees Mavropanos in our line-up and will show them his mistake during City's third goal and the calamity he produces against Fulham on Saturday.

Yeah, Aguerd wanted out. I’m guessing he didn’t enjoy the Premier League and the climate. Imagine going from Morocco and France to London!
